You can get deferred to EDII? I thought deferred applications are automatically sent to RD...well, then there is much hope, indeed!

Yeah, the letter says: "We would like to re-evaluate your application in February with Early Decision II candidates."

That's odd though - what if someone decides that they don't want to do ED2.. I thought deferral was simply to regular decision?

Well, I have the option of moving my application to Regular if I request.

Thanks for letting us know, Z! Definitely a mixed blessing :)

I usually get mail pretty fast too (I live in a small town) so I'm hoping it'll come on Saturday!

(z), You're going to get into somewhere great and if Wes doesn't take you, they'll regret it. Good Luck with EDII and your other apps!

ugh, I trying sooo hard not to think about this but so far at my school we've had Columbia, Dartmouth and Cornell ED acceptances and I'm freaking out. I think I'm going to take a break from CC until decisions come out so I can clear my mind.

So that being said:
Good Luck to everyone!!! You guys are awesome and I really hope I get the chance to be with you guys at Wes! See you guys Monday! :)

i'm not even applying until next year but all of these ED posts make me feel so nervous!

good luck everyone!

got my letter in the mail today (i also live 45 minutes from manhattan).
deferred to ed2, frustrating because wesleyan should not have been a huge reach for me in the first place. but oh well, i have other school that i like, now i just have to complete my eleven other apps...

I'm surprised everyone is getting deferred to ED2. I seem to remember in years past that a deferral meant you were considered in RD. unless I remember incorrectly...

^^

I know people who were drefered to EDII (both got in, BTW, so there really is hope!), so I think this is the way it has always worked.

Good luck to those defered, and those still waiting.

If you get deferred to EDII but then call them to change it to RD, will that look really bad? (Worse than if you had just applied RD from the get-go?)

And I second what Gabs said, Z. I really do hope you get in -- you seem like an awesome kid.

did anyone from brooklyn hear from wesleyan yet?

Yea I did, straight denial, so much for being recruited and having the classical guitar teacher write you a letter of recomendation...

oh my gosh I lied. I couldn't stay away!

No freakin way classicalguitar. I cannot freaking believe this. Now I have no hope. I'm dreading when the mail will come. I'm so sorry. :( All I can say is that Wes made a mistake.

thanks gabs91, it was prolly my SAT scores that killed me (1970 can not be compensated by 9 AP's, 3.69 gpa, being recruited for rowing and a letter of rec from the guitar teacher)

Oh my gosh, ClassicalGuitar!! No way!! I'm so sorry :(
They definitely made a mistake. I'm sure you'll LOVE wherever you end up going though.

Theory:
I think they're probably deferring a unusually large proportion of people to EDII because they don't yet know how the 40% increase in ED will affect (or not affect) the number of people applying RD, so they want to hold off on admitting people until they see.
Which would be good news for people deferred because it doesn't mean they didn't like you, it's just that they want to get a better picture of their applicant pool before they make a final decision.

i was rejected too. Best of luck to everyone though.

Oh no!! I'm so sorry PeacePlease :(
This is insane. Are they accepting anyone??

I just got my acceptance package an hour ago. I'm so excited!
I hope you guys get in through EDII. I was actually prepping myself for rejection

I got my acceptance letter today as well, and I am elated. Best of luck to those deferred.
