-Essays: Common App essay was pretty great, I think. I wrote a letter to them as well, which really showed my personality and love for Wes.
-Teacher Recs:Fantastic.
-Counselor Rec: Great.
-Hook (if any): Spent 5 weeks at Wes during the summer, am Bosnian but weirdly so (lol long story, explained in my Common App essay).

LOCATION/PERSON

-State or Country: Bosnia
-School Type: IB
-Ethnicity: White
-Gender: Female
-Major Strength/Weakness: S = Grades and seventh subject, summer programs. W = asked for full FA WHICH I RECEIVED!! <333
-Why you think you were accepted/rejected/waitlisted: Because of my quirky letter and obvious love.
-Going to attend?: YES. (Unless Brown or Yale accept me and give me as much money. Then I’ll have to think about it. Though Wes is my favorite.)

OTHER FACTORS

-Extra-curriculars: 2 week writing program at Duke, 5 week writing program at Wes, 2 week clinical psychology program at Duke.
-Comments: I love Wes so much and my mind is blown. I applied to 15 schools, 6 from which I’ve heard back (4 have accepted me, one has waitlisted me, and one has rejected me), and I thought it would be so impossible to get in anywhere, but here I am: WES CLASS OF 2014! And I’m also amazed by their FA generosity.

if you got into berkeley without perks, such as IAP or Regents which gives you earl registration datse or mentoring connections, its not really worth going there. You should stay on wes waitlist and accept Cal on the way.

Cal is part of UC and UC sucks right now. the classes are horrendously huge, and the school archietecture is not so…good. lots of ppl also cant get the classes the want, i rather graduate in 4 years at wes than 6 at Cal,…UC fees soaringg!

besides Wes and Cal are both semester system school.

unless your main concern is $$. If you live in CA its $$wise to go to Cal, but outofstate…Wes is more worth it.

Also, depending if you wanna go to grad school. its hard to get into grad school with a Cal GPA unless you tippytop with GPA and proffessor connections whatnot

General Comments/Congratulations/Venting/Commiserations/Scholarships,etc: VERY happy about the early write. Wes was not my top choice at all (actually, I only applied because they didn’t need a supplement), but I’m so happy I got in. I think my interview helped a lot, as well as sending in my app relatively early. Also got good FA package. From the schools I’ve gotten in already, Wes is definitely my top. Happy all around!

General Comments: I’m actually really surprised about this one!

They are both very different schools. Berkeley is much much larger than Wesleyan, but academically they are quite similar (Berkeley perhaps has the edge).

my FA for Cal and Wesleyan is same, so theres no $$ issue there.
Theres more Asians @ Cal, if you wanna meet asians…or be with them…
I cant say that Berkeley does have “smarter” people than Wesleyan if you look at their common data set.
However, berkeley accepting public fundings…it is a school where ppl are more financial diverse.

p.s. it doesnt snow at Cal.

I like Cal, but I also wanna leave CA and try Wesleyan…for the heck of smaller class sizes…

Cal is notorious for the huge class sizes…bigger than ucla
