I guess I can take solace in the full ride I got to Washington and Lee, which does take the sting off of it slightly, but I was really hoping for a school closer to home. To the guys accepted: congrats! how likely are you to attend?

Damn congrats on that redguard! Well, I’m STILL WAITING on Boston College’s decision (one of my other top choices) but apparently, they sent out rejection emails to some of my classmates (one of them being my closest friends). So if I get rejected from BC, I think Wesleyan will be my top choice =) I’ll hopefully be seeing you all in the Fall!

Did Wes accept any internationals asking for financial support this year? Doesn’t seem like so…

decision: Waitlisted

objective:[ul]
[] sat i (breakdown): 800-Writing 740-Reading 670-Math
[] act: N/A
[] sat ii (if submitted): 790-US History 790-Spanish Language 690-Literature
[] unweighted gpa (out of 4.0): Ours is weighted, and mine’s 4.33 or something. I’ve only ever gotten one “B.”
[] rank (percentile if rank is unavailable): 9
[] ap (place score in parenthesis): Euro History (5), US History (5), English Lang (5), Environmental Science (5)
[] ib (place score in parenthesis): N/A
[] senior year course load: Broadcasting, AP English Lit, AP Gov, Spanish 5 Honors, Physics, AP Calc, Newspaper Journalism
[li] major awards (usamo, intel etc.): None, I guess.[/ul]
[/li]

subjective:[ul]
[] extracurriculars (place leadership in parenthesis): Cross country 4 years (captain), winter musical 4 years (stage manager 2 years), spring play 4 years (leading role 2 years), public speaking 4 years, Ecology Club 4 years (treasurer), outdoor track 1 year, academic team 1 year, NHS, Governor’s School for Spanish
[] job/work experience: N/A
[] volunteer/community service: TONS of hours spent recycling the school’s waste.
[] essays: Pretty personal, so I’m sure it was fine.
[] teacher recommendation: Saw one and it was excellent, and I’m sure the other one was just as good.
[] counselor rec: Uh, we get along extremely well, but we don’t really know each other.
[] additional rec: N/A
[] interview: N/A[/ul]

other[ul]
[] applied for financial aid?: Yes
[] intended major: Political science
[] state (if domestic applicant): VA
[] country (if international applicant):
[] school type: Public
[] ethnicity: White
[] gender: Male
[] income bracket: <100K
[li] hooks (urm, first generation college, research, etc.): Err…I was named “Most Humorous” in my class. I don’t really think I had any hooks. [/ul]
[/li]

reflection[ul]
[] strengths: Test scores and extracurriculars
[] weaknesses: No interview, job, or outside-of-school volunteer work.
[li] why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: No interview. Very stupid of me. I never really showed my interest in Wes. [/ul]
[/li]

**general comments: I should have interviewed. At a school with no supplemental essay, it’s absolutely essential. Also, I should have been on the academic team all four years. I just joined in December, and my team was the regional champ for the first time ever. We were third at states, by far the best we’ve ever done. It’s so much fun, and maybe my essay would have been better if I could have written about it.

I’m so bummed about all this. I feel like all my hard work over the past four years has been a complete waste. Luckily, Wesleyan was not my top choice.**

general comments: I got into Pomona, so I’m okay with this. Good luck to all.

thanks martinez! Haha its funny you mention BC, because I actually got an acceptance letter there despite technically not having applied. I submitted my supplement and application fee, but not my main common app thing, and then I pretty much immediately withdrew my application and got a refund (since BC doesn’t offer FA to non permanent residents). Yet, somehow, I got the letter a few days ago. Something to tell the grandkids about I guess haha

“Back when I was a kid, I got into colleges I didn’t even apply to!” xD even if it is stretching the truth

reflection[ul]
[] strengths: Unbelievable dedication to my school’s MUN club, I did a lot more than what I stated above I just didn’t want to go on a tangent. High upward trend (decent grades from 7-9, good grades in 10th, then straight A’s in 11th)

general comments:

Although my GPA isn’t special at all, my grades in my junior year were stellar. Also, even though my SAT Scores seem low, the average SAT score at my school is about a 1400 and only six kids in my graduating class scored higher than I did on the SAT (no one above a 1900)

general comments:
Cannot decide between Penn, Middlebury, Caltech, and Wesleyan. Any suggestions?

^^Penn non-Wharton doesn’t hold a candle to Wesleyan; Midd is too far north; if it comes down to Caltech and Wesleyan, your stats should make it unnecessary to go to a strictly tech school in order to meet your career goals.
