*Official* What are my chances thread

perfect your a little below average stats wise, itll come down to your EC's id say

chances at stern?

-from ohio
-1380 SAT (750Math,630Verbal)
-3.8 Weighted GPA at a competitive, really good public high school in my area
*pretty rigorous classes, though i only took 4 total AP classes including my senior year... mostly honors, 2 AP's last year and 2 AP's this year.
does the fact that i will have 5 math credits at the conclusion of senior year help me at all since business is math oriented?
-pretty good EC's
-great recommendation

i don't think my personal statements were all that great though...
but my main essay for the common application was good (in my opinion)

getting people together into one thread seems hard.
Good try, tho

college2004 being from ohio will help, what do u mean by 5 credits? 5 credits from colleges or 5 years of math in high school? i think your sat and lack of aps wil hurt a bit tho.

5 years of high school math, yes~...
my sat's will hurt? really?
i thought i was right around the average... oh...

so am i probably not in?

College2004,

Unless they are on the NYU admissions board, nobody can perfectly predict your chances of getting in. Basically, people on this forum can merely guage whether you're a competitive candidate....but nobody can make definite statements about you being accepted. For that, you just have to take the chance, apply and see.

The avg. SAT scores for NYU ED admits this year were around 1400...I'm assuming RD admits will have very similar scores, possibly higher due to the fact that RD is harder than ED. Your SAT score is good enough to put you in the running, but its not specatular. Your unweighted GPA will also be considered.

In my opinion, assuming you have a good unweighted gpa and EC's, you have a decent chance, but you're not a shoe in.

Good luck and keep us posted.

-NYU class of '00

bumpbumpbump

chances at CAS

average - 89.4/100
sat- 1400
8 APs

decent essay, decent recc, plenty of work experience and internships, that's about it

Louis,

I think you have a decent chance (I'm assuming you have some ECs). How your average compares to others at your school will also be important.

Good luck.

-NYU class of '00

PSAT: 208 SI, 69 V, 60 M, 79 W
Average: 95uw, 97w
Hardest classes possible
2 languages (Spanish/Latin)
ECs: VP Drama, Speech and Debate (next year probably VP), Catholic Youth Organization (P)

SDP,

I would think a true SAT I score would be helpful in determing your chances. Assuming your SAT I score is similar to the PSAT, you've got a decent shot. Also, I would really try to get that math score up...I think its safe to say NYU may be even be more competitive next year.

Your GPA and ECs seem fine, get good reccs, and write a great essay.
