Hows it going guys? Have you sent your apps in yet? What made you choose Wheaton?

I haven't sent mine yet, but its almost finished. I actually live in Wheaton and go to the college a lot to swim in their pool. If you have any questions about the city, I can probably answer them (lived here all 17 years).

Hey man, I did send mine in. I'm actually from the south side of Chicago and applied EA. That's cool that you live in Wheaton.. do you attend the academy? I went on a missions trip through Leader Treks this summer to Guatemala with 3 girls and 1 guy who attended Wheaton. All but one girl are at college now, but one of the girls is still a senior at Wheaton academy.

I hope I'm in, although I'm not sure if Wheaton is my #1 choice:
SAT: 1470 (780m 690v)
Rank: 10/221
GPA: 3.893
Job all through HS.. senior class vp yada yada yada

I'm applying RD. Right now it's tied for my #1 choice with Stanford (I know they're almost complete opposites, but I really like both of them), where I applied EA. I'm from WA and I haven't visited yet, but I most likely will in Jan.

SAT: 1410 (720m, 690v)
GPA: 4.0 uw
rank: 1/240
EC's: lots of leadership, music stuff (all-state trumpet, and play piano), and church activities/missions trips

Hope you guys get in, it looks like you will!

I applied EA to Wheaton. It's tied for my #1 choice w/ Williams (where I applied ED). If I don't get in at my ED school (but get in at Wheaton), I'll definitely go to Wheaton.

I sent my application in last week. I'll probably be going there if I don't get into a one of my reach schools (ivies mostly). Final stats: 1520 sat, 1/574, lots of wheaton college E.C.s :). Maybe I'll see you guys there next fall.

I also applied EA and absolutely loved Wheaton when I visited. I know the website says that notifications are received by December 31, but are they all mailed out at once or is there a chance of receiving a letter earlier? Anyway good luck to everyone!

I could not find a way to check the status of applications online. I would think that even if there was a way to do so it would be reserved for those who applied online ( which I did not), so I guess I'll just have to wait the old fashioned way. Also I have a simple question regarding the atmosphere at Wheaton. Do the students have fun? Not in a drinking or partying sense just are they happy to be there? Are they completely consumed in their studies? I visited during homecoming weekend so it was tough for me to determine if all the "love for Wheaton" was genuine. I suspect that it was because I was extremely impressed with the school, but I'm still curious for your opinions...

matt_2005-I'm sure newt knows more about this than I do, but I've talked to one guy from my town who went there a few years ago and he really liked it a lot. He even said he liked it more than Princeton, where he went to grad school, and would rather teach at Wheaton than anywhere else.

anyways, I'm filling out the extracurricular stuff right now on the app, and for the school activities section I have about 5 blank lines...do you think it would look bad to have all these spaces? On the Stanford app I could barely even fit everything. What did you guys have there?

Torchi, it won't look bad to leave a few blank. It's quality, not quantity that matters :).

Matt, there are some people at wheaton who are very strict, homebred Christians that do not "party" and do stuff like that. There are probably people like that at every school though. This past summer, I had the opportunity to be a counselor at wheaton's camp in the northwoods of wisconsin. I interacted with ~30 wheaton undergrads there and they were really fun--the type that make me want to go to college all the more badly. So, while there are some people that are stuck in there studies, there are many more who aren't. It all depends on who you hang out with and what your goals are.

Thanks for the feedback. Im relieved to hear that about the students at Wheaton. I assumed that was the case, but with dec31 quickly approaching, I have realized that even if I do get in there is still a lot to consider. As for the application, I would not think that a few empty spaces would matter that much. I attached a separate resume as well and that worked out fine.

Hey guys, I also applied to Wheaton early action and like y'all said, it's definately a character building experience to have to wait for the letter. Wheaton is definately my first choice, but I know that if I do not get in, it will just be the Lord closing that door and preparing to open a new one. When it comes to the quality and character of the students there, I could not speak more highly of them after my visit. They were high-caliber, classy, bright, and most importantly genuine Christian kids. Is anyone else applying to any other high-academic Christian schools or know of any like Wheaton?

I am also applying to Grove City College (PA) which is similar to Wheaton. I know quite a bit about the college since both my parents went there and my sister is currently attending there so if you have any questions let me know.

Yeah I've also heard quite a bit about Grove City. The main things that I have heard about it is that it's kind of a more liberal Christian campus and maybe doesn't quite have the same emphasis on being Christ-centered as Wheaton does. How has your sister liked it and what does she think about the atmosphere?
