Official Whos Applying 2007!

Sat: 2240
Sat IIs: 800, 790, 750
GPA: 4.0
Class Rank: School doesn’t rank but Top 5%

I'm applying... not gonna post stats though because I'm retaking SATs and ACTs and taking SAT IIs. So my scores are effectively worthless information for anyone right now (they're not bad, just, they're a work in progress).

I'm applying too, ED (woohoo!).

haha my tests are also a work in progress, but I am ranked #1 in my class of 375-ish, 4.0 UW, numerous ECs with leadership and devotion, awards, billion hours of community service, etc., and did semi-decently on the SAT and two of my SAT IIs, but I will be retaking them all in Oct. and Nov. just to make my chances a bit better.

i'm also applying early decision.

tests= in progress.

i've been all over the place. sports, art, science, humanities.

I just can't seem to pinpoint one single passion...so i'm passionate about 4 true ec's (i run two of them), very LITTLE community service ;/ , getting published in a science journal in 2 months, studied abroad and passionate about traveling. I love seeing the world.

I love being out there, and I love Brown.

Ok, I'll give some info. I'm applying regular decision. I go to the Illinois Math and Science Academy, a school with crazy grade deflation and a lot of crazy smart/hardworking kids. My GPA is 3.7, which is well above average for IMSA (not great by any means for my school though). (15-20 kids of 185-200 go to Ivies every year from my school, another 15-25 to Wash U, UChicago and Northwestern, and about 10 to MIT, Caltech, Stanford, and the average GPA of these kids tends to be 3.6-3.9).

I'm president of a club, have taken classes at Northwestern, I have a cellular neuroscience research project that takes 3-10 hours a week, I've taught and designed cirriculum for a summer camp, I take guitar lessons (rock guitar) and volunteer at a hospital. I also have some other useless/unimportant clubs. ]

I want to do Brown's neuroscience and cognitive science concentrations, and would love to do research with Brown's brain research insitute (forgot the real name).

I love Brown, and good luck to all of my fellow applicants and people with test scores in progress!

I don't have my heart set on Brown yet. I'll have to visit this summer. If I do completely fall in love with Brown, I'll apply so that I won't have any regrets. My stats are currently substandard, but I think they'll be about average once I get my SAT around 2200.

I'm probably going to apply (RD), but I haven't made my final decision yet.

SAT: 2240
SAT II: 2380
ACT: 35
AP: five 5's and three 4's
GPA: 3.9 unweighted/4.7 weighted
No rank
EC's: President of 4 clubs, VP, secretary, etc
Major: Environmental Studies

I'll be applying ED. I love Brown, and I know it's my dream school. I'm so nervous and excited...but I've yet to really start my app. I've been staring at the essay topics blankly, trying to start writing, lol. Anyone else a bit of a procrastinator, or just having some writers' block? Or am I just behind and most people have already completely the fifth draft of a compelling and amazing essay? ;)

Good luck to everyone. :)

raises hand

SAT: 600 CR/710 M/590W
GPA: About a 103 weighted
Rank: At least top 10%, could be top 5%

Has anyone checked on this with Brown? IF the ED deadline is Nov 1, wouldn't the last date for ACT be the Sept one and the last date for SAT be the Oct one?
Someone above said something about re-taking in Nov...that may be too late for ED.
I checked on this with another school with Nov 1 deadline and they said retake ACT in Sept, not Oct to be on the safe side. I called ACT and they said can take 5 weeks for scoring, then you can get a rush delivery of 2-3 days. So taking it in Oct would not work.
I believe SAT is around 3 weeks for scoring, then rush delivery is again 2-3 days. So the Oct test could be OK, but I would check with Brown about the Nov SAT date.

What do you love about Brown? We live on the West coast and haven't been able to visit yet, and just don't have much info, other than what we read. I couldn't find a list of majors on their website. D is interested in marine bio/oceanography/environmental policy/law and visual arts....
Thanks, any tips/info appreciated!

wecandothis - your D and I seem to have very similar interests... (except for visual arts). Very cool.

As for majors, look here for a list of departments. Then from each department's homepage look at the academics section to see what majors are offered.

im apply rd =), ive pasted my info up on those forums too many times, too lazy to do it again lol

I will apply. Mother says I must not farm for all my life so i learn the english best i can to come to school.

It's so nice that your mother looks out for your best interests, Dubradditz.

I'm definitely applying...I wish I could apply ED but my mom won't let me. Don't even ask, she's nuts, haha.
Brown is the best!
As for what I like about it, definitely the open curriculum and the neighborhood it's in. Thayer Street is so cool, with its artsy stores and Coldstone Creamery. :)
