OFFICIAL Williams College Class of 2014 RD Applicants

congrats to all, but why do you think there was an early notification. I applied to Williams thru Questbridge also.

I remember reading in an article about Williams admissions that they send out early writes to prospective students whom they think other colleges will also covet. They want a leg up in the wooing process.

^ Really?! :)

Did anyone else get a handwritten note at the end of the letter? Also, when will non-early writes be released? I have a friend who applied but hasn’t heard anything yet…

^ for the handwritten part I meant what did yours say

My daughter got an early write from Williams today. There was a handwritten note saying how they enjoyed her essay. This is on their website. April 1 is regular decision notification. We’re from a small town in Michigan.

In February and March, a small number of Regular Admission candidates with superior qualifications receive early notification of acceptance. No special application is required and no response is expected of Early Write candidates until May 1.

I got my acceptance letter this Monday. I had a little handwritten message as well, “Your personal statement was absolutely poetic. Well done!” I was ecstatic. A couple of my friends are still waiting for their reply. Is anyone here attending Preview? and, What other college notifications are you guys waiting for? Congrats to all who got in!!! Anyone else from PR?

SynpaseLapse – Here’s the quote from Alumni Review:

“By late February, the readers identify 200 or more students who stand out so clearly that they receive letters offering admission a few weeks ahead of the rest of the regular admittees. These “early writes,” as Williams calls them, are typically highly coveted by other colleges. By admitting them a bit earlier, arranging for department chairs or coaches to phone or write urging them to accept, and, in a small number of cases, offering to fly them in for campus visits, Williams hopes to get a leg up in the wooing process. (The College tends not to “early write” students from high schools where many candidates have applied to Williams, however, so as not to send parents and school counselors into a tizzy by accepting one student weeks ahead of others.)”

I’m pretty sure we all got hand written (but different) notes on our acceptance letters. Not that that lessons my affection for Williams! :D

I got “Your writing is elegant and a joy (“joy” underlined!) to read. Hope to see you next fall at Williams!”.

I’m going to the Previews and I’m uber excited! 3 other kids from my school got Early-Writes!

:D
I got waitlisted by Wash U yesterday…I was LOLing really hard (cause Williams > WashU^10) :P

Is it safe to assume that all early writes have been received already?

Wow, I just noticed that I wrote “lessons” instead of “lessens” in my above post. My ego requires that I post this realization, as CC won’t allow my to edit my comment anymore.

YES got into williams haha… i got one of those early letters with a p.s. in ink!!!

Do internationals get early writes as well, out of curiosity?

I was a RD applicant and also got in early admission

it was really cool but i still sort of cant believe it.

my stats were not taht great but im a minority and my writing is said to be very good.

for some out there dont be discouraged because of SAT’s cuz i got in and i have an 1810 on my cumulative. that isnt everything, its how you present yourself.

i love that, it makes it that much more special! :)

Hi everyone, good luck with your apps and congrats if you have a place.

Does everybody receive mailed decisions? Or are they only posted online both for admitted and rejected applicants?

Online for both and mail for both, I think

After a waitlist at Amherst I’m not expecting much, but I love Williams so much more :(

RD candidates got personal notes the year my S was admitted. So all you all may.

Hopefully. I like handwritten notes.

I got an early write to Williams but then got waitlisted at Amherst and Swarthmore. Teehee! Don’t particularly care since I like Williams better anyways… waiting on some ivies but probably going to Williams regardless.
