I know what it’s like to be rejected AND waitlisted at two of your favorite schools. But please don’t wallow and reach out to other schools lower down on your list - you just might be surprised. Williams certainly wasn’t my top choice when I applied, but it may be getting there! I’m uber excited to visit there now!

I would like to think that all of these waitlists mean that I’m a fairly impressive applicant, but a little voice in the back of my head tells me that in this economic climate top schools want a full pay applicant sitting on the waitlist just in case.

<p>For those accepted, congrats, and for those not, it truly is as much about fit (and in some cases, random luck) as anything. The school could probably accept 1000 of the best applicants it doesn’t have room for and have essentially an indistinguishable student body. Although it feels like the end of the world, the differences between Williams and, say, Midd, or Carleton, or Haverford, or Bowdoin, or plenty of others, are really infinitisimal in the grand scheme of thingns.</p>
