me too @drdelicious…im assuming we didn’t get in. it would make sense for them to send accepts first, waitlists second, rejections last. so here’s to a brighter future!

Yay for UChicago. I’ll hopefully see you there!

anyone get an email the last five-ten minutes and get an accept?

[] Where else were you accepted/waitlisted/rejected: Accept: UCD, SD, LA, William and Mary. Rejected: UChicago, Yale-NUS, WUSTL, Northwestern, and now, Williams.
[/ul]General Comments:
I’ve been embittered by the whole college admissions process. I think there’s something inherently wrong with me as an applicant rather than the college being selective itself. What did I do wrong? Was it something I could’ve fixed?

** Decision:Rejected**

GPA: 3.7 ish
SAT: Upper mid 2100s
SAT II: 730 Lit 800M
Race: Yellow :frowning:
Recommendations: Probably the best part of the app, one of them said I would be receiving her best one ever.

General Comments:
Not that surprising. After all, I’m just another Asian kid. I just know I’m going to get slaughtered by Ivy day tomorrow. People often say, “Do your best and God will do the rest”, but that’s all bogus anyways, especially in college admissions. It’s literally a crapshoot at times. I’m just fortunate that my low match is also one of my favorite places, and I probably would have preferred it over Williams if they gave me a bit of money.

Congrats to everyone who got in. Williams is incredible. To those who don’t, well, I’m sure you don’t need to be lucky to do great things ;)

ACCEPTED!!!

ACT: 34 composite (36 English, 35 reading, 33math, 31 science, 6 writing)

Gpa: 4.0 UW, 4.5 W(taking every weighted class available)

Sat2’s: I have a 740 in lit, and a 770 in bio

Essays: my essays are strong.

Recs: these are pretty good too.

Extra-curricular: varsity track 4 years, varsity cross country, founder and president 4-h club, surfrider president, best buddies, peer leader, mock trial club Vice President.

Work: internship with a solar energy company, and with a federal judge. Tutor.

More: white, female, middle class, non-legacy.

Career interest and major: going into environmental biology, planning to be a college professor.

Hooks: will be walking on the track teams.

Faults: sat2s, act writing

community service!!
I have over 150 hours from doing mission trips to the Navajo reservation in Arizona (where we painted houses and ran a summer camp), and from creating and running a drive to collect soccer uniforms to send to impoverished children in Mozambique, Haiti, and South Korea.

My dear…
Stop it. Don’t ever think that.

There are too many variables to consider, and self doubt doesn’t do a thing to help. These colleges are hedging on their best bets; it’s inevitable that they will make some mistakes.

You sound motivated. And that’s what’s important.

As a fellow Chinese girl (with MUCH lower test scores, mind you), I think I share a connection. Sure, my family isn’t as rich. But they have tiger-parent instincts.

Truth be told, I feel a bit guilty being in this pool of stereotyped asians. Everyone either has perfect test scores and/or have one a state competition. Me? I only have some art to show for my efforts. My parents have been harping on me consistently to study for my tests, and I even failed at that.

In fact, they’ve printed out my ACT scores and kept them in a plastic cover to show to my little brother (who is 9. I took the ACT 4 times, with a 33 the 3rd time being my best). I’m awful at test taking, as my records show. Took both Lit & Math II 3 times, doing my best with an atrocious 690 the second time for both being my highest. That’s ~70 and ~50 percentile, respectively.

Might post full stats later, if anyone is curious.
(Haha I’m not fooling myself–I don’t think anyone is.)

I got waitlisted at WUSTL, UChicago, and now Williams. I am completely certain I’ll get rejected or waitlisted for the schools replying back tomorrow. I also got rejected from the Yale-NUS program, but that’s not surprising. It was more like “meh, might as well click on the button”.

Now to go study for my Chem test and pass out. I got 3 hours of sleep the night before just for shiggles. Yeah, I do a lot of idiotic things. It happens.

Good luck, wherever you go.

Edit: wow. 2 replies in the time it took for me to write my essay xD Jello, my skin is pretty much the same color. As I said above, it’s like being a failed asian. And congrats Trackstar! That’s great to hear :)
