[li] Where else were you accepted/waitlisted/rejected: Accepted to Dartmouth, Cornell, Harvard, Wesleyan, Rochester, SUNY, BC, Lehigh; waitlisted by Duke, Wash U; rejected by Stanford SCEA[/li][/ul]General Comments: The whole process is INSANELY random. You can’t try to make sense out of the process. Personally, I was really paranoid, because my financial aid forms were really really late, and HYP didn’t request them AT ALL. So I figured I was ignored, but it all came out great. Interviews also apparently don’t matter much; didn’t have one for Yale. Don’t look too far deeply into things, just relax. And if you get rejected or waitlisted by a school, it does NOT forebode your results about your reaches. Even the most insignificant things you do could be very appealing to an admissions officer; just show yourself in many dimensions. All in all, I think I’m a normal candidate who got lucky.

Dudes!

Congrats to all of you that got accepted! In the coming weeks, you’ll probably be getting into a bunch of other colleges as well, but as a current Yale student myself, I can tell you that Yale has been pretty much the greatest thing to ever happen to me. I mean, of course, the classes and professors and facilities are really great, but what I think really sets Yale apart from any other university is how happy and nice the student body is. I still can’t believe it, but I have yet to meet anyone at Yale that I would classify as a “jerk.” It’s great, you come to Yale not sure what to expect, but then you look around and everybody is just… normal! Well, of course, everyone is pretty interested in their academic stuff and most people have one or two things that they’re really passionate about, but you would be hard pressed to try to fit people into some sort of “Yale” stereotype. So yeah, I strongly encourage you guys to all come up on Bulldog Days and check it out. Even if you get into… that other school, think really hard about turning down Yale. Personally, I was accepted by Yale, Princeton, Harvard, Stanford, MIT, and Brown PLME and chose to come to Yale because I think it’s the best school in the nation for undergrads (and I’m mostly sane!), so yeah… it’s a tough decision because there are a lot of great schools out there, but I think Yale is absolutely one-of-a-kind.

AND the residential college system is amazing. If you get to choose which college you’re in, definitely go for TIMOTHY DWIGHT!!! Ashe! You can get a feel for what student life is like at Yale by checking out the Timothy Dwight Blog: [Timothy Dwight](http://timothydwight.blogspot.com) -leave us a comment to let us know you’re coming! We expect to see all you guys on Bulldog Days!

Congrats dudes, and rock on!

[] Job/Work Experience: I worked at a calling center last summer
[] Volunteer/Community service: I volunteered as a Research Assistant for two Psychology Professors last summer. I have hundreds of service hours and organize many youth and community action/activist projects.
[] Summer Activities: Calling Center, Research Assistant
[] Essays: How I promote human rights/activism with Interact; My beard – and how it’s taught me that no stereotype can constrain me; My empathy with strangers (creative piece)
[] Teacher Recommendation: 1st- It was good. Not as good as it should have been.
2nd- It was positive, but my teacher obviously didn’t edit it. It was replete with grammar and factual mistakes.
[] Counselor Rec: Wonderful
[] Additional Rec: Interact Club Sponsor-Glowing; I’m one of her favorite students from the past 21 years
[] Interview: On Campus-Exciting. I think he was impressed that I had arranged meetings with profs/department heads on my visit and that I had conducted individual research in Psychology.
Off Campus- We talked for like 2.5 hours in a coffee station. She had just graduated, I’m not sure she knew what she was doing.
