^everyone got deferral/rejection letters. I got mine last week. it was depressing. I hung it over my laptop for constant motivation

Ha, haven’t gotten my official letter of deferral yet. It’s going to be sitting in my mailbox when I get back to school. :)

i think everyone gets deferral/acceptance but not rejection letters.

Congrats Guys!!! Hope I could get in and see you guys too!! wish me luck!!

ugh, that’s awfull… yale shouldn’t send out deferral/rejection letters if the people have already viewed them online ^^

Being deferred myself, I don’t mind seeing it again. In a strange way the letter would make me happy; it is because I was deferred that I looked into other schools (e.g. MIT) and found that I liked them much much better. :)

For SAT I 2210, does it need to be retaken for a normal well-rounded person without hooks?

My son got in with 2200. Top of his class. He showed passion in his essays & EC’s. Your 2210 is fine, if you have only taken it once then go ahead and try again but it is really the rest of your application that will get you in not an increase in your SAT I’s

@splat11. “Top of his class” – which class do you mean? @Yale or @his high school?
Happy New Year Everyone!

His high school class. He is/was no. 1

wholeheartedly agree with splat11

test scores are just a gateway issue

is splat’s son asian?

bawaaa and i just realized that even if i doo get into my safety schools, i probably can’t go because i picked ones with crappy financial aid . ■■■ =[. it’s like getting into tufts but still having to go to community college

^You have safeties? I see one (Vanderbilt). Tufts is unpredictable about admissions, and none of the Ivies should be used as safeties…

I disagree. The only schools that you can’t muscle your way into are HYPSMC and some specialized programs like Wharton at Penn and CalArts. Everywhere else, you could build such a powerful resume that your admission is virtually guaranteed (hence, a safety).

^Brown is never really a guarantee, although I suppose one could use Cornell and UPenn as safeties if he or she is mindblowing. Dartmouth is kind of in between.

how is vanderbilt a safety

would you recommend retaking a 2200 if my class rank isn’t #1? I think I’m going to, as I know I can do better (only got one multiple choice writing wrong, but got a 740 cause I flunked the essay). What do you guys think?

^^^ Cornell and UChicago are strong schools that could be considered safeties.

^ Agreed. Although I wouldn’t really call them “safeties”, persay, I’d call them matches. Because they’re great schools, just ones that you know you’re qualified to get into.
