Official Yale Class of 2014 SCEA Discussion Thread

okay, touche.

but you guys might too!!! or harvard. ;)

oooo i like that:)

2400, 4.0 gpa, three sport captain, president of model un,

rejected

***!!!

my teachers have been a mixed bag. i’ve had great ones and terrible ones, but i don’t really have much to complain about there. they have been very supportive.

sorry, Lukey. it doesn’t always make sense.

Same here, some great teachers (few), some mediocre, and a couple dreadful ones.

But my counselors are still clueless as ever.

^totally. mine tries, but she really has no idea. :-\ everyone just goes to UW colleges.

congrats for breaking out of that tight bubble, tres elefantes! ;)

way to defy the stereotype :D

^well, maybe i shouldn’t say everyone… but VAST majority who go to college!

anyways, you lived here for a year, and i’m curious, what was your impression of the city?

^ i feel you. same thing happened to me. i will never be able to fathom the reason as to why this horrible tragedy in my life occurred.

Hey, everybody from Wisconsin! I went to a camp in Beloit last summer, though I know that’s hardly in Wisconsin. I met a lot of Wisconsinites(?), though, and had some excellent cheese.

My counselor’s really nice and cool and wrote me what was probably a very good recommendation, but he was quite clueless about the whole application process… I go to a big semi-rural public high school, and very few people apply to selective schools.

I’ve had some amazing teachers and a lot of so-so ones… though my worst classes were bad because of students who were so indifferent to what we were learning that there’s only so much the teacher could do. Not to sound snobby, but I don’t understand why people who don’t have any intention to go to college would sign up for AP Lang.

@LukeyTheKid, That’s too bad about your rejection, but at least you’re all caught up on the latest internet sensation. ;)

@hajikami, I’ve never been to Beloit, but I’ve heard it’s nice. My school only offers two APs, so I took all mine online and bypassed the problem of indifferent students entirely. Although today my teacher had to reteach the Unit circle to my calculus class because no one knew what it was. Having spent six months on it in pre-calc, I wanted to scream.

^hey, me too with the online classes! what/how many online classes have you taken? and through which providers? my school district doesn’t pay, so i’ve been shelling out a lot [of my own money; parents didn’t pay] for these classes. i’ve taken or am taking AP spanish, AP english lang, us history (for APUSH my junior year, which is usually available to seniors), a literature class for college credit, and a fiction class next semester. :] last two were TERRIBLY expensive.

i hope we meet at yale next year. we can speak our wisconsin twang and say “bubbler” all we want without becoming subject to others’ mockery (well, i don’t know if you have an accent, but according to my coastie friends i have a thick one.)

Quick Question: If I resit my SAT Reasoning in Jan and it’s lower do I still need to send it to Yale because of their No-ScoreChoice policy?

Like Pigs what did you do with ur december SATs?

@tres elefantes yes! That sounds wonderful. I have heard conflicting views on my accent since I used to live in California, but I’m pretty sure it shows up when I say “boat.”
Well luckily for me my school pays for the classes as long as you don’t fail them. Woah you have taken a lot of online classes-I’ve only taken AP World History and APUSH (in the process right now). Also I start AP macroeconomics in a week.
Do you use WVS?

if you say “vote” like sensenbrenner does, I’ll have to laugh at you
but only because one of my best friends is from minnesota so i secretly like your accents :)

Hey guys - I was defered to Yale EA , International Applicant from India & my sister went there too - I had a pretty good midyear report with straight A’s (I had 2 B’s earlier) and also won an award at Harvard Model UN in late January and my school won Best International Del so yeah! I also visited campus in early FEB after HMUN but theres a downside to all this : I gave my Physics SAT in Jan a few days after my exams and completely messed up - got a 740!! but YALE doesnt accept score choice - sort of worried that this would put me at a disadvantage cuz its not a very good score ( I had a 770 in SAT 2 Chem & 780 in Sat 2 MATH 2 earlier which Yale already has) - Let me know what you guys think - cuz i have to send the score anyway. Would love to get your take on my chances after a poor SAT Performance but decent MIDYEAR Developments on the Whole! Thanks!

You’re mistaken if you think a 740 Physics will determine your yes/no to Yale. You’ll be admitted/rejected on many things – that particular score won’t be it.

and WHY did you post the same thing four different times on separate threads?

sorry - im new to this - i was told that posting on a thread with more views would probably get a response earlier - & as you can say im sort of worried about the impact of the result given the timing etc. thanks anyway!
