my SAT is 1969, shooooot …

theleakers I think they will take you solely based on the fact that you’re so cool that you managed to get a none 0 in the ones place of your SAT score. A 1969 is impressive in it’s own light. It can’t even compare to the 2400’s because they have freaking 0’s in the ones place.

My D applied and was interviewed, but we’ve heard nothing yet. How are you learning your results? Letter or online?

@pttsbrgher

This is the Official Yale Class of 2015 “SCEA” results thread. The regular decisions come out on March 30th.

Decision: Accepted

Unweighted GPA (out of 4.0): NA (English school), predicted A* grades for all subjects (Math, Further Math, Econ, Spanish, Latin), all A-grades at AS level
Rank (percentile if rank is unavailable): NA (but at the top jointly with others)
Senior Year Course Load: A-Levels Math, Latin, Spanish, Economics
Major Awards (USAMO, Intel etc.): National Merit Scholarship (Finalist), UK Senior Math Challenge (Gold Certificate), Scholarship/Senior Scholarship at school

Subjective:

Job/Work Experience: Internships at Google
Volunteer/Community service: Engaged over 2 years with charity that promotes sport among slum children in India
Summer Activities: Google internhsips (London and Mountain View), visits to charity in Mumbai
Essays: I put a ton of effort into these; I think they were great

Counselor Rec: I’m sure very good
Additional Rec: From Indian charity, great letter (only one I actually saw)
Interview: The interviewer later said he gave me a perfect score; obviously went well!

Other:

Applied for Financial Aid?: No
Intended Major: Economics
Country (if international applicant): UK (US Citizen)
School Type: Private
Ethnicity: South-Asian
Gender: M
Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.): None

Reflection:

Strengths: Solid all around, near perfect scores/grades
Weaknesses: Nothing particularly unique/unusual
Why you think you were accepted/deferred/denied: The admissions office (in a congratulatory email) said “you write really well and everyone said great things about you”. So I guess essays/reccomendations/interview must have swung it.
General Comments: I’ll be going for sure!

Apparently one got accepted more easily if he/she does not apply financial aid.

Do people not understand what “Need Blind” means?

Quick explanation:

The people who decide whether you are accepted/rejected have NO IDEA if you are applying for finaid or not. They do not see any of the forms you send to the finaid office. They are completely separate.

There is no way that applying for finaid can affect your chances of admission.

Why are we all so suspicious that these top universities are somehow lying to us about their financial aid policies?

@Idiosyncra3y

attribute it to human nature to blame everything but oneself i guess =/

p.s. love the nick :)

Thank-you :)
