General Comments:
I had successfully convinced myself I was rejected. Guess I was right. Hurts a lot, but I’m glad I know now.

There are other schools than Yale, there are other schools than Yale…

I’m an RD applicant and I’m lurking here looking at everyone’s stats, and the number of extremely capable candidates who’ve been deferred is surprising! Although this is tame compared to Columbia’s thread with rejection after rejection
Good luck to everyone deferred, commiserations for those who were rejected and congratulations to all those accepted!

Rejected.

Basic stats: 2310 SAT I, 800*2 SAT II, 4.0 GPA (unweighted), self-studied 3 APs and got 5s, international, very low income.
Weakness: probably teacher recommendations.

DEFERRED!!
I didn’t expect this as my application was quite badly put together so this is a nice surprise :)

I’ll post stats in a mo.

Deferred. It oddly doesn’t feel as bad as I expected, especially after seeing most of the top CC people get deferred. Best of luck to all who were deferred; congratulations to all who were accepted; and condolences to all who were rejected.

EDIT: Just for the sake of this thread, I’ll post brief stats, but not the full format. ACT: 36, GPA: 3.96 UW, 4.125W, top 10% (school only ranks by deciles), 3 AP tests: 5s on all. Generically good recs/essays/ECs. No hook.

Decision: Accepted

Will post the rest later. Now, IT’S ICE CREAM TIME.

To those of you who were accepted: CONGRATULATIONS!

To those of you who were rejected or deferred: Stanford>>>Yale, so don’t forget to apply to the better school in the regular round. ;)

Good luck! :)

Decision: Accepted

[li] Why you think you were accepted/deferred/denied: Well, I think my numbers were fine, and my essays/recs/debate were definitely strong. My international experience (three years in Beijing) must have helped as well, as should my strong leadership roles (which are impressive, given that I’ve switched schools twice!)
[/li]

[/ul]General Comments:
This is incredible! I was trying to keep a realistically low expectation, and then the bulldog started singing, and… just, WOW! Congrats to all other acceptees (hopefully I’ll see you at Bulldog Days, if I’m in the States at that time!), and best of luck to everyone – you’re all amazing applicants, and you’ll find somewhere great that deserves you too. Just push through these next couple of months!
