[ /list][ b]Subjective:[ /b][ list]

[ *] Job/Work Experience: Teaching violin, tutoring, hospital volunteer work
[ *] Essays (subject and responses): I did the personal essay on "a topic of my choice" which basically highlighted my quirks.
[ *] Teacher Recs: I'm pretty sure they were good...
[ *] Counselor Rec: No idea.
[ *] Interview (feel and general location): I'm horrible at interviews, I think I was vague and stilted.

[ /list][ b]Location/Person:[ /b][ list]

[ *] Gender: Female
[ *] Hooks:
[ *] Strengths/Weaknesses: Very rigorous academics, but maybe not so much actual "leadership." I might have been viewed as being "spread too thin."
[ *] Why you think you were accepted/deferred/denied: Maybe a poorer essay than I would've liked...and the aforementioned factors.
[ /list][ b]Other Factors:[ /b]
[ b]General Comments/Congratulations/Venting/Commiserations,etc: Hey, everyone, we all tried. Good job on getting accepted...and good job otherwise, too. Everyone here really cares about this and deserves the best. Good luck to you all.[ /b]

BBB, even if the AA acceptees are in the same income level as the White/Asian acceptees, they bring a different perspective. (See also, DWB, etc.) If you doubt this, what percentage of White/Asian kids do you think would make a permanent racial change to secure a better--not absolute--chance of getting into Yale or any other HYPSM school?

TheDad...I dont think it should go by ethnic percentage at all...simply who is best qualified. If a urm has similar (-100 or so) points, then I understand the university's choice of the urm. But to lower their standards to that which is COMPLETELY out of reach for a white or asian kid to have and still get in...then its unfair.

ok thats it. im done.

sorry again for the yelling and screaming.

I was reading some of the deferral/rejection letters/reactions and I honestly felt really sad for some reason, as if it was me who had gotten deferred/rejected. I feel so bad for all you people. I can't really explain my reaction, since I'm already a freshman here, but it was really wierd. Then, last night I had a dream I got deferred from somewhere...maybe it's because some of my senior friends applied early....well, all I can tell you is that it will work out. I got deferred from one of my first choices at the time, but ended up in what I later realized was my real first choice. Same with my friend applying to columbia ED then ended up at duke and loving...but hang in there...I don't kno I should probably be packing for winter break..my finals just ended...

anyone feel like compiling a complete roster of accept/defer/reject?

man up people, admit you got rejected.

haha.

Oh - and I had cross country, too. Resoluteness, right?
...er...wrong?

I admit it, I'm just too lazy to do the whole stat thingie. Maybe apathy is why I didn't get in! My stats are on my chances thread in the general chances forum if anyone wants to check.

After much deliberation, I have determined that Yale clearly thought I was using them as a safety, and rejected me because of what I like to call "Yale Syndrome" :)

what does the deferral letter say .........

General Comments:Yale 2010!

[ size=+1][ color=blue][ b] ACCEPTED!

I'll post stats later. too tired. 3 hours of sleep in past 48 hours. It's kinda bittersweet for me though: one of my best guy friends was accepted, my boyfriend was rejected. :-/ Good luck everyone!

Hey, I just wanted to extend my congratulations to ALL of you for applying. You know, it makes regular applications so much easier to get this one out of the way, no matter the result.

A special shout out to all you deferees out there. I was deferred at Yale, applied to 15 other colleges, got into fourteen, and got in here. And I came. And it's wonderful, and so worth the extra torture of waiting. And, you know, I'm really glad I kept my options open. Because when April rolled around I really though I might go to Princeton. And I almost did. And then I realized that I truly did want to go to Yale, even knowing that I had 14 other great options. And it makes me love Yale all the more. It's worth it, you guys.

So MAKE SURE you CALL YOUR ADMISSIONS OFFICER. Tell them how much you love this place (even if you're not sure it's true, yet - it will be) and ask them what you can do to make their lives easier, clarify anything, and make you an easy ADMIT! Talking to my regional ad com helped a lot.

Best of luck to you all!

And for all you who have been accepted to the class of 2010, WELCOME TO YALE!!!!!!!!!!

BTW, my sis got deferred (she won't write on CC), pretty depressing...

where do I find my regional rep?
