Not that I'm stalking them or anything. I was just looking at the list of NY kids and remembered this conversation.

To all of you who got in, congratulations...to those who were deferred, there's still hope for us in the regular decision round...to those who were rejected, all of you are great candidates who will undoubtedly end up going to good colleges; good luck to all of you!

[] Why you think you were accepted/deferred/denied: numbers are good enough but there wasn't anything to really make them want me over the other AMAZING individuals they accepted / deferred (look at the other people who posted on here saying they were deferred!!!!)
[/ul]Other Factors:
General Comments/Congratulations/Venting/Commiserations,etc: if you got accepted, ROCK ON! if you're one of hte rest of us, keep your heads up, we're all gonna end up at wonderful places and a year from now, you won't be albe to imagine yourself anywhere else but where you end up. and READ THIS thread if you haven't already: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=125370

Job/Work Experience: starting this spring semester!! (WOW i need money!)
Essays (subject and responses): 1.) driving all the way to Dubuque one spring day w/ best friend to get some Krispy Kreme 2.) how my relationship with my asian mom changed over the years (for the better) after i was a half-asian rebeller as a kid
Teacher Recs: lol, i think i picked teachers that liked me. we're not allowed to ask teachers for a copy at my school, so the guidance counselor makes us ask a whole bunch of teachers for recs, and then she kind of says "well, this teacher's was STRONG, you MIGHT want to ask her."
Counselor Rec: pretty good i think, but don't know about content. she's nice.
Interview (feel and general location): v good. had a law student from the UW and had it at a Borders. i really saw how they discouraged pre-packaged answers ("WORLD PEACE!"). but it's REALLY a luck of the draw who you get to interview you. my friend who applied EA got a retired minister who quizzed her on her views of good/evil for an hour. she didn't know what to do.
Hook (if any): I said I might major in East Asian Studies or Women's Studies -- both departments they might need more people in (?)

Location/Person:
State or Country: Wisconsin, Madison
School Type, Average Stats of School (if available): SAT: avg V-623, avg M-635, ACT avg:26. 76% go to college. Mostly sons/daughters of professors and ppl related to university or "professionals"
Ethnicity: half Japanese, half Irish-American
Income Bracket: I think the category is '+150,000'
Gender: female
Hooks: none really
Strengths/Weaknesses: strength-my essays really showed my personality (?), well-rounded (?) weaknesses-no MAJOR strengths, like "I'm number one at this and this" etc.
Why you think you were accepted/deferred/denied:Honestly? I have no idea, esp. after reading the profiles of others. It might have been cuz... for my "why Yale?" I wrote about cool graffiti in the bathrooms. so for ppl applying RD, the small sections matter too.
Other Factors:National Merit Semi

General Comments/Congratulations/Venting/Commiserations,etc: CONGRATULATIONS TO EVERYBODY: those accepted as well as those deferred/rejected too. GOD what a grueling process, congrats for surviving it. talk about cruel and unusual punishment for the seniors of the US. SO DON'T FORGET TO ENJOY YOURSELF AS A TEENAGER. Go car cruising and try on daring/borderline slutty clothes and eat ice cream until you barf and play chinese fire drill and fully analyze whatever that boy/girl you've been crushing on just said to you. You deserve it.

gosh.. so many people got deferred =/ ... i feel so average now!!! i feel like you have to be some sort of super star to get accepted -_- publish a book.. work for the president.. found a city.. geez.. T.T

i know how you feel, but really..... everyone who gets deferred or accepted is above average, and most of those rejected are too.
