General Comments: Wow college admissions is such a crapshoot. I was accepted to Stanford EA, Rice, and Columbia, but I was rejected by Harvard and Yale. I've been planning on Stanford since I got in, so it's not really a big disappointment that I didn't get into H & Y. Just funny that one can send the same exact app to schools that have very similar acceptance rates and get wildly disparate results.

At any rate, Stanford is my dream school, so it's like, "All right, only one Ivy, but who cares?" (don't want to sound rude to those of you whose first choice is/was an Ivy) I can't wait until September!

Summer stuff: CTY, two weeks of "research" at RPI (it was really just programming, not actual research, but whatever), MIT's Women's Technology Program

Why I think I was accepted/deferred: 1. My heart just wasn't in it. 2. My interview was going fine until he wanted to know what other schools I applied to; then I froze, because I knew that anything I said would make it painfully obvious that I wanted to go to MIT more than anything in the world. I think he probably figured it out anyways.

Other thoughts: I'm not going to stay on the waiting list - I've wanted to go to MIT for my entire life, and while I think I might've been happy at Yale, I'm sure that there is somebody (probably multiple somebodies) on that list who would be much happier and much more deserving if there is an additional spot to be filled. I read somewhere that waiting lists are designed to help make a few more students' "college dreams come true" and Yale was never my college dream. I wish the best of luck to those of you who do plan to wait it out, and congratulations to all of you who were accepted. For those of you who got rejected, remember that the admissions officers aren't passing judgement on your life, they're just making a decision about a packet of papers you sent.

bleh waitlisted, I was kinda surprised (well, only in terms of my other college results, not in general haha). Yale was my no. 2 choice, so this was kind of disappointing
I got into Stanford ea, p-ton, duke, vandy, harvard, so yale was the only one to not admit me, haha : )
I'm going to do the whole stats thing but basically around 2300, no. 2 in class, 15 aps by graduation, blah blah, hook were 2 national ec's and some nationally published research.
