Official Yale SCEA Countdown Thread!

eating food, do you know who jason robert brown is?

illuminar, which Canadian school do you go to? I go to Unionville High in Toronto (York region)...
and why does it matter how many people are applying from your school? Is it better if no one is applying, or better yet, has applied in the school's history?

I don't know the school but I've been to York before. I live in Halifax, so quite a ways away.

I was contacted for my interview today. =D

But of course! Actually i know someone who's starring in his new musical "13"!

Why?

illuminar- I visited Halifax a couple summers ago :) All I remember is the citadel and the maritime museum though.. :/

lol I know someone in the show too. its not the same person though, he's in the teen band. that would have been funny though.

A month -4 days until dec 15...wow.

Jason Robert Brown! That man is a genius. I absolutely LOVE The Last Five Years, and it's so much fun playing it on the piano. [/theatre geek]

Wow, can't believe we only have about 4 week left :X That's crazy...

collegebound i know someone in the band too!! And by know, I mean met him at the audition and now we're facebook friends. Sweet kid. And JRB's HILARIOUS.

I asked because you said you liked musical theatre, and basically that dude is the man. He pretty much taught me to play the piano (his music, of course, not actually him. I wish)

The Last Five Years is super legit, but Parade is by far the most ridiculous and amazing thing of all time. There's a song where the left hand piano part is in Db and the right hand piano part is in D. It sounds terrible and sexy all at the same time.

I'm doing Songs For A New World for a senior project at my school. I might have to be Man 1 and sing like a small child/grown black woman. We'll see how that turns out (badly).

I was friends with JRB on Facebook for like 3 months. He friended me actually. Then he wrote on his blog about how he was going to start cutting friends because he had too many, and I wrote him a wall post threatening to kill him if he cut me. He did. I don't think knew I was kidding.

So there's my massive free association on Jason Robert Brown. So yeah... Yale. I'm not getting in.

At my school, 50 people are applying to Yale early. Around 100 are doing Cornell early. 50ish to Columbia. 800+ seniors total.

/wrist

^
yeah id prob slit my wrists too lol

omg...50 to yale EA?!?!

Holy crap!
We probably had like 10 Yale SCEA. Some were totally unqualified people, but the others are all Ivy League material.

wow. My school only has about 10-15 people (out of 270) applying to any ivy league schools. Only 60% of applicants even get accepted to my high school and our average ACT score is 29, but most reasonably good students (and even most overly qualified students) just apply to schools like Boston College/Notre Dame/U. Chicago/Georgetown/ Duke/Wash U and so on. I really dont get it. Shouldn't students be looking at colleges they want to go to instead of blindy applying to the Ivy's. I'm one of either 3 or 4 people applying the Yale at all, and everyone usually just rolls their eyes when I say im applying to Yale. (in fact, people will just randomly say, "He's going to Yale next year" and immediately im the outcast for attempting to get into my dream school.)

50 to Yale EA? That's like 1% of the applicant pool haha.

26 days now? Christ. 13-14% admit rate this year. Christ. I don't know how I'll get in. Or how anybody will get in.

Is anyone on here from the Bay Area?

depends upon what bay you're talking about. If it's the Chesapeake, yes. :)

Our school has an abnormal amount of people applying to yale (6 compared to the usual 1). I foresee a bloodbath on Dec 15 :/

oh sorry, no i mean SF Bay Area. anyone?

haha hey hey chesapeake bay! where you at limetime? lol

oh, and 9ball9, I can only reemphasize the fact that you're not really competing against the people in your school, but your region. So never fear! Unless you're in my region...hahaha :)
