Official Yale SCEA Countdown Thread!

I need to edit my essays a bit, but I'm nearly ready to send in my app!

Has ANYONE gotten their Eli ID???? Yale is slackinnnnn lol

lol. I think the problem might be that a lot of admissions officers are on tour at this time of year, and not really there to start reading applications. I spoke with one of them today, and they told me about how they won't be back for another week and a half, and then it's go time.

17 days until Nov. 1.. it's getting close

I have the common app essay to do and the why yale (500 char) essay

I still haven't done my CommonApp 150 words EC essay. I know what I'm going to write about, just can't seem to get off my lazy butt.

Can't believe the deadlines so close though :X So nerve-wrecking...

wait wait..."500 word Why Yale essay"? I thought it was a 500 word whatever-you-want-to-write essay? Or are you just choosing to write about Yale, peyton?

I think he means the 500 character short-answer that's basically "Why Yale?"

October 15th...is this exactly 2 months from when we get a decision?

yeah, there's the 500 character "why yale" essay and the 500 word "topic of choice" essay.. i've done the 500 word essay, just not the 500 character one

Yes... I'm applying early... getting the recs done now...

and will finish essays during the weekend. Meeting counselor after school tomorrow. She knows me pretty well... Waiting for Oct SAT scores... Hopefully superscoring raises my writing section...

I have bigger things to worry about than a stupid application to a school with such insane kids applying... no offense to you all...

haha i was right that the gossip girl episode was not filmed at yale's campus!

Yale accepts the November 1 SAT as well, right (as long as they're a score report recipient)?

I mean, my ACT score is what really matters (35), but just in case my SAT score isn't as high as I'd hope (which I want a 2200+, or 33+ ACT equiv).. i have a 2070 so far, and i project the october one to be a 2150-2200 (probably closer to 2150 b/c reading was not my strong point on this last one)... but does it really matter since my ACT is high (like, will they pretty much not put much thought into my SAT unless it is a 2340+)?

princess: he was referring to the 500 character response, not the 500 word essay

I just found out that the other Yale SCEA applicant from my school wrote and published his own book. AAAAAAAAAAH!

^ woah, that's quite an accomplishment

^that just totally, totally popped my ego (haha) XD But it's really, really impressive!

10. Ivy-chan. Real name? Ivy. (surprise? XD)

(I noticed people stopped posting this since page 1, so I'm re-continuing)

I love Yale because I. just. love. it. I met this really admirable girl when I was around 7 or 8, who was from Yale, and she painted such a good picture of it that I just fell in love with the school completely. I went to visit Yale a year ago, and the scenery (the buildings are awesome =D) and people completely took me. Plus, Yale's admissions officer completely convinced me when he went to my high-school for a college visit last year. It's on the top pile of my top schools (hence SCEA XD)

On the other hand...
I think I've overdone the procrastination progress (shame on me). I have only written my Common app 500 word and the Yale short takes. I should probably get off of my butt and go write the rest now XD (ahaha)

Hi! This is my first post here on CC, and I'm so excited to be applying to Yale. Everyone here seems so supportive; I'll be glad to be glued here as the deadlines approach!

I'm a junior and Yale is my number once choice. I'll be applying this time next year. I'm a little confused about the "early decision" or "early action" policy for Yale. What exactly does it have, and what are the stipulations about binding and non-binding if one is accepted?

BTW, Yale campus is sick!! I went there this summer ;) Truly an enchanting place.

Yale is Single Choice Early Action: Early Action means that if you are accepted early, you do NOT have to attend. You're free to apply to as many schools you want Regular Decision, and you can choose to go to whatever school accepts you, even if it's not Yale (although I can't imagine why someone would do that ;)). However, you can ONLY apply to Yale early. So you can't, say, apply Early Decision/Action to any other school.

Hope that helped! Good luck next year :)

wait soooo

brown/penn get decisions on 12/13!

does that mean we do tooooo?

^ Obviously... duh...

Or 12/14 or 12/15 depends on the year....
