Thoughts on Brown vs. Yale?

Congrats! Now we wait for the official email… I hope this isn’t some cruel joke xD

Congrats In The Card ! Just curious though, did you send in any updates since April?

IntheCards - Congrats!!

Depends on what you are looking for in a college.

Yale is definitely more prestigious, particularly for an international. The real pluses for Brown are the open curriculum (if that appeals to you) and that it is generally considered to have the happiest student body among the Ivys.

@InTheCards: Congratulations on your admittance to Yale!

Have you gone to visit Brown? It is absolutely amazing, but I know Yale is as just prestigious. The best things I observed about Brown was how Cubsfan mentioned that they have the happiest student body (they truly do) and the freedom of Open Curriculum.

I just wished Yale would update us wait listed applicants how many they’re accepting or anything of that matter. :O

Rating student happiness is an unscientific, subjective process – but for what it’s worth, while happiness varies from year-to-year, Yale currently beats Brown in several recent publications. I imagine much of that is due to the residential college system at Yale.

Thanks everyone! I can’t believe this is actually happening. Rush10, are you planning on going?

I did send in an update to my admission officer with a few updates, but nothing major at all.

I’ve visited both campuses actually and actually really enjoyed both. I’m a sucker for the college-town vibe and I actually thought Brown and Yale were more similar than different. I love the Open Curriculum but do also love Yale and residential colleges as well… makes for a pretty hard decision, haha though I think I’m leaning Yale.

Good luck to all of you!

My son is in! Did anyone accepted receive an e-mail or was able to access the Eli account to confirm acceptance?

^ I haven’t gotten it yet. They said they would send out the email today.

Oh and CONGRATULATIONS!

@onglet: I was called and accepted on Saturday and they told me an email should come the next day. It’s monday and I havnt gotten an email yet. Can’t access my Eli account either

So is the first round over? Does anybody know if they’ll send out rejections/updates soon?

InTheCards, congrats.

Yale > Brown, definitely.

I just found out Friday, and I haven’t gotten my email yet, either.

Important information for all accepted students

Called my representative today and she said that the emails are delayed because they are having trouble contacting a few students. She said the emails should go out to those who have been called already in the next 24 hrs and the packages (2 separate ones, one for financial aid and other paperwork) were sent out today and should get to the students houses by the weekend. Hope that helps

@ysquared: Hmmm…it looks like they’ve already decided on who to take off their wait list, though it’s still possible that they’re still contemplating a few more. I looked in passed wait list threads and they message us by either e-mail or they send us our rejection (if we are) by mail.

And, it’s still a bit early compared to pass wait lists to close it, since the earliest was June 1st for last year, but the previous year it endured until July.

@Hpina: Perhaps I’m one of those students (hahaha I doubt it), though for my interview back in March they actually did have trouble contacting me (they called my house number, e-mailed me) until they called my cell phone number…so who knows…

Did they call your house phone when they accepted you?

@ensueno: They called my cell phone. I think if they can’t find you they leave you a voicemail

Well, have you guys get your official confirmations yet?

^Not yet, but is only 7 am EST.

Does anyone know why it’s taking so long for us to get the email?

I just got mine
