Officially admitted from the waitlist!

I got my letter in the mail the other day, dated May 16th!

Now I have to weigh the pros and cons of attending Eastern vs. UW since I already paid my fees to enroll and get housing for EWU...

Personally, I’d go to UW. How much will you lose though?

$250. However, Eastern is $16,433 a year and UW is around $21,212 a year, so I’d be saving $4,709 a year. However, I may qualify for Husky Promise.

But you might get more out of UW right? It’s worth the $4709+250 I would think. And will you be able to find out before you commit to UW if you are qualified? Either way, I’m voting UW! lol

I’ll probably learn more. If not, it at least looks better because it’s a better school and more known. I’m creating a pro/con list to try to decide haha. I really want to go to UW but I’m poor…

Nah, I wouldn’t go to Eastern. It’s probably the last university I would go in this state. It accepts people with pretty low GPAs, so I wouldn’t expect it to be a great academic environment.

The difference of 4.7k a year is pretty insignificant, considering that it’s much easier to get a job in Seattle than in Chiney. Not to mention that UW looks much better on your resume.

Also, where does your family live? If somewhere around Seattle, than it would be quite a pain to come here from EWU every break.

But if you’re going to get more opportunities after college, like seatac said, that amount is insignificant.

I suppose… I do love Seattle a lot (though Spokane is pretty cool too). Still working on that pro/con list haha. My worst fear about UW is that I’d get rescinded because I have a 3.8 GPA, but this semester, my grades are really bad. Partially due to senioritis, partially due to bad teachers who literally decided that everyone did too well first semester. I have a C and a C+ which is bad for me/bad for UW…

You should just contact UW admissions, and explain your situation. Contact an adviser, not just a receptionist.

Perhaps. Unrelated: The major that I chose back when I applied is not exactly the same as what I want now. Do I need to contact them to tell them I want a different major (it’s not a major you have to be accepted into or anything) or does it matter?

You’ve got until the time when you officially declare your major which is by junior year.

Good to know. Next question: I have a 3.79 cumulative GPA. I’m only getting around a 3.3-3.5 this semester probably, but I have no D’s or F’s. Since I was waitlisted in the first place, is this enough to get me rescinded possibly?

Not sure if it is different between waitlist and regularly admitted applicants, but if it isn’t, then you should be perfectly fine.

just contact an admissions officer and they probably will be chill with it. they really only rescind in extreme cases (D’s and F’s) which you don’t have. if you can, though, bring those up to B’s

go to UW. Don’t even think about it. UW is better in quite literally every measurable aspect, and it will easily pay off in the long run.

I agree with all of this. Go to UW!!

also, why would you want to go to eastern? you’re in the middle of nowhere for four year or 2 years or for however long.

I GOT IN TODAY! what GPA do we need to maintain for the second semester to not get rescinded?

Congratulations! Could you please let us know your situation. CC transfer? General admissions or program? How did you get the news? Etc. Thanks.

General Admission off the Waitlist, got the news in the mail via the BIG Envelope. I sent in an appeal about a month or so ago which I think helped.
