forums seem to be helpful, so i post here...

I am going to be a sophomore this coming fall. and am very indecisive about my housing.
i lived in sellery freshman year... it was ok.

i'm pretty sure i still have the option to switch.
im currently in ogg because i thought it would be easier to switch out of than to switch into.

i visited the towers and it looks sweet. rooms are really nice and remind me of a nice condo in dt chicago. ive been in ogg but only on the first floor. i havent been able to see the rooms...

if i live in the towers, i know my roommates. if i stay with ogg, im with some rando... but i have friends who will be living on the same floor.

in a place to live, i want a social experience. i still want to meet more people and i feel that sacrificing a nice place, although both are nice, is worth meeting more people because i could always try living in private dorms the following years...

however, i like coasties. i am from chicago, and i feel i fit in more with coasties.
then again, i hear private dorms are very "secluded"

what are other pros and cons of each?
what's your personal opinion on where youd live?

other miscellaneous...
-member of a frat
-trying to get into engineering
-likes urban, modern atmosphere

please help me out, before it's too late to switch.

You don’t have much of an option to get out of your Ogg contract unless you want to pay 85% of the contract value:

“Contract releases to live off campus while attending UWMadison will not be granted. Your option is a buy-out of your contract at 85% of the housing and dining service fees which is approximately $5,133.”

i dont think im contracted to ogg, yet.

You say you are currently in Ogg, but then you say you don’t think you have a contract.

You may want to contact the Division of University Housing today to get a better understanding of your situation. You should find out if you have a contract or not.
