I never heard of this school until your post. Go to UGa.

I really dont want the Big COllege experience though
Is mercer Better?

I'm from Georgia and I can give you some advice. Don't listen to joev, you are comparing apples and oranges. If you don't want a huge college experience, then UGA would NOT be right for you, because it is a really big(but great) school. I know because I am from Athens and am taking some classes there after school.

Ogelthorpe is in Atlanta (where I lived 2 yrs. ago). I used to play tennis over there, and had an interview there. The way it is advertised, it sounds like Ogelthorpe is right in the middle of Atlanta, but in reality, it is in the suburbs of Atlanta. The campus is REALLY small, and the stadium is built like a castle. It is also a LAC.

It does not really have a great reputation(not a bad rep., just no one really knows about it). They give scholarships to top students, but what colleges don't? That's all I know about it really, though, so maybe you should research it more.

Mercer is a really good school with a baptist affilation(it isn't religiously oriented or anything but the history is there). I think the best thing to compare it to would be Baylor in Texas. It is pretty small, in Macon, Georgia, and has a solid reputation. My good friend has a brother there, and he seems to really like it. He had a 1380 SAT and a 4.0 GPA and got a full ride. It's a solid school, and not too big (about 4000 students).

My vote is for mercer-for academics, a better social life, and prestige.

Oglethorpe is a really great school. Its very small as compared to most colleges only about 1200 students total. That's also one of the reasons why no one has heard of it. Oglethorpe is a great school depending on what you plan to do with your life. Classes are small (10-20 students) so you will get to know your professors and you classmates. The campus is small but absolutely beautiful. Most of the buildings were built in a old england neo-gothic style of architecure so the whole campus looks like a group of castles nestled in the hills. There aren't many classes to choose from but through oglethorpe you can take classes at about 15 other universities in atlanta (Ga tech,Ga state,Emory) or around the world free of charge. Oglethorpe's rep. is not as big as yale but if you plan to work in theater, English, or business Oglethorpe is a very big name in Atlanta and surrounding area. Oglethorpe is also really affordable it costs about 30,000 for tuition, room and board, but Oglethorpe is paying for 25,000 for me.I didn't even win their biggest scholarship.Unless you are bill gates' kid most ppl get at least a couple 1000 even if they are dumb as rocks.
