Have you guys talked to other senior, non-CC users about the college process yet? Basically everyone I've spoken with only has a list down and has no idea what to do next.

Here's how my conversation went today. I found it quite funny.

Me: So how far are you?
Friend: Uhh, I think I wanna go to Ithaca.
Me: Have you filled the common app out yet?
Friend: We can do that already??How?

Thanks CC for all the bountiful knowledge.

I posted a note on Facebook about this awesome website for all things college-related (not CC, unfortunately), and all of my friends told me I needed to stop thinking about college. It's only the beginning of senior year, they told me! Apparently, I am crazy...

Yeah, Sligh_Anarchist; my friends have gotten mad at me many times for talking about college to much.

wait..isn't the beginning of senior year the time when you're supposed to be most involved with the college process. I guess I'm crazy too then.

Yeah, it's pretty humorous to talk to other kids about colleges. Plenty of my friends don't even have a list yet. And when I mention I'm writing essays, they're completely baffled. "But applications are months away!" Uh, no they're not. EA applications are due November 1st. I try to inform them as much as I can ("What's the common application?"), but I can only do so much.

That deffinitly happens to me too, Titan. I've tried to turn it down a notch.

I turned down my college talking a lot from where it'd normally be during my senior year. Nobody else really cared or had the same aspirations as I did.

I got paid large sums of money as a college admissions consultant last year, and all I did was regurgitate stuff I learned on CC. It's great, but it's also sad that people can't do their own research so they just throw thousands of dollars at someone to do it for them. But it's easy money, no complaints from me.

It's sad when people don't know what the common app is, or think that their less-than-average grades alone will get them into Princeton.

I have the same conversations!
"Stop thinking about college. Enjoy senior year, you have plenty of time!"

I can only agree with one of the above statements. I do plan on enjoying my senior year, and thus far I have been. But I know in order to enjoy it more, I need to avoid as much stress as possible. Which means getting my college apps and visits all in check.

Also, it doesn't help that everyone in my school is either (a) going to one of the in state schools. or (b) fruitlessly claims to go out of state, without an idea of where, how, or why (other than the fact that they want to leave AZ). So my only peer in this admissions process is my father and brother.

My peer for college applications is CC. I guess that's why I spend so much time on here...

Yeah, this place was a nice surprise to show me that I'm not the only person interested in this stuff. Depressing, but still nice :) And very helpful!

i love CC..i don't know what i would do without it lol

exactly 2legit2quit! That's what I've been telling everyone...get your applications done now so you're not rushing and dealing with "sorry, I can't. Applications due next week."

It's early as balls to be starting apps already. Ya'll have a weird infatuation with college.

I'm applying early almost everywhere. Applications are due November 1st. That's only 2 months.

Though i do not appreciate the language of Mr. B, I do think that at times there is an infatuation concerning the college application process. I think it does become time consuming if we let it rule our lives rather than letting it be a way of expressing what we actually do with our lives. Therefore, though deadlines are pressing and essays abound, I do not want the talk to rule my conversation. There are more important things to discuss, more important matters. Though the talk can come up, and, at times, should come up, we must resist lest it conquers our being. Unless, of course, you desire this.......
