So the other day my teacher gave me back the commonapp recommendations that I had asked for, and I forgot to tell him how many copies I needed so he made five copies...I'm only applying to two schools that take commonapp, so I have three extra copies of his commonapp rec in sealed envelopes on my desk in front of me....I know it's unethical....but should I look? (I'm soooooo tempted...I mean if I look now, I can save myself from sending a bad rec and just go and ask another teacher for recs....but I'm 99% positive that it will be pretty good, but I'm paranoid lol)

give them to your parents to hold, you never know, maybe you WILL need them

I think I'm going to ask my teacher to hang on to them....especially if he keeps original recs on file, and tell him that I was tempted to open one of the extra copies....that way if he doesn't mind me looking at them, then I'll be able to look at them, and if he does, then he'll hang on to them, and if I lose one then I can go to him for an extra copy.

excellent idea, you will feel better about it

and you may indeed apply someplace else

good student, go get a cookie as a reward!!

I like ethical people. Here's a cookie. Go on, take it. No, it's not poisoned!!!!

lol...I was just thinking this would be a good essay topic lol....too bad I've already written my essays on being a musician that's hard of hearing (Actually I think that would be much more interesting from an adcom's perspective).

Ironically enough, I stole a cookie from work today...lol (don't worry, it was already crumbled into several pieces so nobody would buy it anyway)

And I mean, most teachers, if they don't want to write you a rec or don't like you, they would ask you to find another teacher to do a rec rather than write a bad rec, right?

It would be. BTW 400th POST!!!!!

Haha, I just put the extra copies out in my car so I won't forget them tomorrow, and I'm feeling better already!

"Character is who you are when nobody is watching."

Kudos to you!

Hey - could you please consider running for public office someday?

"Hey - could you please consider running for public office someday?"

I second that nomination! :)

oh what the hell
just peek on it

You can also use them for non-Common App schools. Most schools don't care if a guidance counselor or teacher uses their form or the Common App form, as long as they get the required information about the student.
