<p>For the Common App, I listed myself as a non-degree seeking first-year student under Future Plans for Stony Brook, Binghamton, and Washington University at St. Louis. I thought it had meant whether or not I was going to receive a degree by the end of my first year of studies (to which I said "Obviously not.") Will this hurt my chances? And should I send them an e-mail explaining that I will be a degree-seeking first-year student?</p>

<p>Definitely make that correction. I’d recommend a fax or postal mail, not email. Email gets buried too easily; even a phone call would be better.</p>
