This just kinda sunk in. Holy crap, I'm applying to prep schools. My teacher recs. are almost all in, and for some reason, when I saw my math teacher had submitted his, I had a mini panic attack. I work hard in math, but it's by far my weakest subject, and seeing that made me kinda shocked. He wrote good comments on my report card, and he called me a sweetheart the other day, but I have this illogical fear he is going to suddenly say "HISTORYGEEK IS HORRIBLE. DONT LET HER INTO YOUR SCHOOL EVER" I need to breathe, I think.
Man, I'm stressing.

I doubt that he will write that. You don’t seem horrible! :)

I go though about seventy mini panic attacks during school everyday. I think it’s pretty normal…
Less than 3 months until March 10th… >-)

Oh man. You can’t start the countdown now! [-X

Trust me, I’ve been counting down from March 11th. @stargirl3

oh my goodness. It’s all been happening so fast, it’s surreal. I’m so anxious for March 10th. I actually had my interview today and my testing over the weekend. It’s crazy. How’s everything going for you?

I’ve been working on my main essay (for the SAO) and I’d say it’s coming along nicely! Shoutout to my English teacher for being awesome. :x

I’m an applicant from the last cycle and I just want to tell you that I’VE SURVIVED. (I’m currently at SPS) And I can still remember, clear as day, just how stressed out I was last December.

Breathe. Boarding schools will not determine your future. Getting accepted to your “dream school” will not ensure you get into an Ivy League. Or ensure you get a great job. It WILL NOT guarantee your happiness. Being wait-listed or rejected does not mean you’re any less talented/intelligent/AMAZING. Boarding schools receive countless applications (unfortunately). There are so many qualified individuals applying nowadays. Ultimately, their admission decisions boil down to the concept of “best fit”. Boarding schools look for students who can round them out. If the school’s debate team hasn’t been performing so well, applicants with debate experience have a higher chance of being accepted. Just keep in mind that luck can really play a tremendous part in these types of things.

Be realistically optimistic and stay strong. Know that you don’t need approval from a group of strangers. If you get accepted, great. If you don’t, it’s alright. Whatever will be, will be.

Best of luck with your admissions process! :)

I know that we’ve still got months to go before results come out, but I just am so anxious! Applications are on my mind constantly. I can only imagine the state I will be in on March 9! :))

@boardingschoolx Wow, I really needed to hear that. Thank you. But one question…does the three month wait get any easier??

@fluffymilk oh my gracious, me either. I’m kind of worried about myself the week leading up to that and after. Isn’t that right before Spring Break? Whew.

@boardingschoolx can say this because she’s met me. ;

@02gloves It doesn’t exactly get easier. But the time goes by shockingly fast, and there will be some days where boarding school doesn’t even cross your mind. February break really speeds up the wait for me.

As someone who went through this process 4 years ago, no the wait does not get any easier. However, fast forward 4 years later, I can tell you the wait for BS decisions pales in comparison to the wait for college decisions. Good luck.

Just remember, this too shall pass- no matter how wonderful something is, or how horrible, it’s all temporary. You can get through it.

^In the meanwhile, you’ll go nuts.

It’s just slightly terrifying. I’m okay. I have to make some edit’s to my essay, send my thank you notes, and hope for the best. All is well as of now. Just a little bit stressed, is all.

I think that I will be quite relieved once I finalize everything and send it off because then all I have to do is wait. But then again, waiting isn’t going to be easy either!

I sent in my essays last week (AGH) after probably proof reading them at least 100 times each. I was so nervous to send them. What thank you notes are you doing? (@HistoryGeek40)

Wow, March 10th couldn’t come faster.

I don’t even want to start thinking about the wait for college.
