Oh gosh...my admission is going to be rescinded, isn't it? :(

So, long story short: I've always maintained good grades at my CCC (3.8+) and got accepted into UCSD - my first choice. However, this semester, I royally screwed myself over. I had a lot of personal problems going on (getting kicked out, being homeless, tension with parents - drastic changes in my life that unfortunately, are undocumented) and on top of that, I couldn't go to school for the last two weeks because I came down with the flu and then mono (I have a Dr's note for the flu but didn't go any other time) and as a result, I'm on the border between passing in my two classes.

These two classes have 0 weight on anything, they're just extra classes I felt like taking to occupy my Spring semester and to get an AA. I finished all of my IGETC, pre-req, and 60+ units in the Fall.

So now I'm freaking out. In the contract it said that I can't get lower than a 2.0, and with these D's, my semester GPA is going to come out to 1.67 (I took a 4-week class at the very beginning of the semester, before my problems, and got a B) which means I am definitely going to be rescinded, right? Is there any way I can talk to an admissions counselor to keep my acceptance, especially since I've finished all of my requirements prior to getting these grades?

Anyone know anyone who still got to go to their school with one D? I think (by the mercy of God and my professors) I might be able to pull a C for one of them, which will equal out my GPA to a 2.0. Help!

Can you get a grade of “incomplete” at your college? If yes, I would look into that and contact UCSD immediately!

Honestly if it’s not a major pre-req and it’s elective units i don’t think you’ll get rescinded. You should contact SD to let them know but you should be fine.

hopefully not, but if you do its not the end of the line.
you should contact your admission officer NOW and explain your situation. worst case scenario is you will have to write an appeal letter, but considering your situation i feel like you have a strong case that explains your low grades . your previous grade trend gives you a lot of credibility too.

i had a friend who got accepted to UCLA out of HS, practically flunked all of her senior classes and was rescinded. But she wrote an appeal letter explaining her circumstances (similar to yours) and they accepted her anyways.

i hate to say it, but rules are rules. Contact them! they may be able to “help”.

I think you have a good case. My friend got a D but had medical problems and UC Davis made an exception and kept her Fall admission. They didn’t even ask for any documents which I thought was odd but whatever. So yeah, explain it to them in detail. Good Luck!
