Oh hi, chance me :3

I've completed my first year of CC (Santa Monica College) and will be applying to UC's this fall.

GPA: 3.1
Major: History
Applying realistically: UCSD, UCSB, UCI, UCD
Applying unrealistically: UCLA, UCB
Safety: UCR
Other notes:
-Scholars Program, but won't be certified in time
-Working at the library about 15-20 hours a week
-Barely graduated high school
- 2 credits for AP tests: 4 on lang & comp / 4 on u.s. history

Is my safety enough?

Tag .

make sure your math is completed and TAG

I just know that if you transfer as junior, there is a advantage. “Take 60 and more units” my teacher told me once. And you only of the first year you had finished. What is the rush? In CC, don’t you feel it is better as of the teacher’s caring. If not, at least your teacher is the person who teaches you right? In U.C. I had heard teacher focuses on research and sometimes you get a Graduate Student or T.A. on staff. I am not saying they are not good, but still, professors are professors, the title are there for a reason you know.

Forget about high school, I did much worse than you I promise. And you know what I heard, actually if you did bad in high school, but if your grades goes in upward, and stayed stable in CC for some years, a huge advantage. No really!

I definitely 100% rule for you to stay in CC for at least 1 more year. Santa Monica CC is a great community college. Get your GPA up, and of what you love, and your UCLA and UCB will no longer be “dream”, although in the first place it should not.

Go for it!

Hope that help.

I agree, wait until you have enough units to TAG, particularly with a 3.1. Taking the extra year not only makes you eligible for TAG, it gives you priority consideration as a junior level transfer, gives you a chance to boost your GPA for UCLA and Cal, and allows you time to qualify for TAP for UCLA.

It’s a no brainer if you ask me.

Wait, I only need 30 units to TAG, right? Yeah, I already have 30+ so thats not a problem.

^not only that, but English 1A & a level of transferable Math must be completed before Fall 2010 ends (THE PART MOST PEOPLE FORGET)!

“Both of the UC English courses and the UC math course must be completed by the end of Fall 2010, prior to Fall 2011 admission.”

You can apply for a TAG with just 30 units, but you will need to complete 60 by the end of Spring 2011.

tag it up. if you tag you will be into sd and sb no prob.
