Oh man, What am I? Ridiculous?

I was deferred EA, so I called my interviewer and let him know what's up, then I asked him if we could get together again. He was, in general, not too excited about it. I told him I just wanted to ask a few questions, then said I could ask him now. Of course, by calling him, I was hoping for another write-up, etc. I asked if I could call him back tomorrow and talk to him, and he agreed.

So now I need to think of some questions, haha.

Does anyone have any questions they need answered about UChicago?

is the cold unbearable? i got accepted, and this is one of the factors im scared about...

Where are you now, BigWeight? I live in Maine, which is pretty similar overall to Chicago weather, although I think Chicago might be a bit colder (the ocean moderates temperatures where I am, although that doesn't mean that it doesn't dip into sub-zero temps a few times a year; the lake probably has a similar effect out in Chicago).

If Chicago is anything like coastal Maine, I'd say that it depends on what you're used to. I think Chicago is anywhere from 15-40 degrees in the winter (probably late November through mid-March), usually in the 20s and 30s, sometimes getting a few great days of 50s and sometimes getting a few crappy days of teens and single-digit temps. They get decent snowfall out there, though not too much since they're on the wrong side of the lake (I believe; please, Illinois natives, correct me if I'm wrong here) to get the truckloads of lake-effect snow you see in, say, Buffalo, NY.

To someone like me, the cold would be par for the course. If you live in Florida or California, the southwest, something like that, you might find it VERY bitter, but that's why hats, gloves, sweaters, coats, heaters, blankets, hot drinks, etc. exist. :D

Where I live, it doesn't snow.

EVER.

So this should be exciting.

I've only seen snow once in my life.

ha, so chicago might get a huge snow/ice storm tomorrow evening. It has been semi-like that for the past couple of days, but it looks beautiful outside!

Snow is amazing--so long as you don't have to clean it off your car three times a day, like I did today. :>(

If you want to see snow, I can pretty much guarantee that you'll see it in Chicago at one time or another, and probably many times a year.

Highs in the ** 50's **??????? Today's a cold day..... and it's 53.....

I'm gonna die if I go there..... O.o

Oh, yeah, in the winter, at least around here, 50 is an extremely warm day.

Four seasons are awesome. :P

Its 52 today and I am fine but I cant imagine 10 or 15. My mom and the rest of her family are natives of Buffalo, so I have the cold genes but I doubt after 17 years in Southern California that the genes are going to help me at all.

This December so far has been particularly harsh. So far, days where the high is above 30F have been rather rare. Next Monday's forecast is a high of 12.

I'm glad my weather is almost identical to Chicago's - Monday and yesterday had highs of around 6-7 degrees Fahrenheit, wind chill making it about -15. And we just got about 7 inches of snow today.

Oo Lightbright where do you live? Cali? Cause it doesn't snow EVER where I live either. Or rain for that fact, lol

50s= cold???

Today we had a high of 45, and I thought that was pretty good. Still scared of Chicago, though. Cold is fine, but wind = blegh.

weather.com ten char

LoL, 50 degrees is cold? Either you're kidding or you guys must be living in Texas, haha. Just put on a hoodie! It was like 40 today and that's what I wore; I thought it was warm lol, and I live in the northern Mid-Atlantic so it's not like I'm a penguin or something.

Anyway, I love the cold and snow =]

haha i live in singapore and our temparature range here in the tropics is 78-91 fahrenheit. i'm sooo going to freeze to death if and when i come to chicago.
