Oh my god, I'm a failure! 770 on Math II..

I just got my SAT II subject scores today.. 800 in Chemistry but 770 on math ii.. I heard that 10% of all people who take it get 800s, so I'm pretty mad at myself right now. To make matters worse, I'm Asian (Japanese). Do you think it would be worth it to restudy and retake this test? I'm planning to apply to Harvard EA in the fall, so I'll probably need the most perfect app possible, right?

770 on Math II is a great score, imho. Congrats to you on both. :)

The percentile rank for a score of 770 is 81, a lot lower than most of the other subject tests.

LMAO you are hilarious. either you’re being serious and i feel sorry for you OR you’re being sarcastic and want to get attention … hahahaha…

(it’s fine. -.-)

So I will be at least considered for admission at Harvard and other Ivies even though I did not get the 800?

Ugh, seriously? Please don’t waste time and money. Your score is just fine. If you get denied, it won’t be because of a 770.
No need to worry. :)

Profiled, I also need to know whether I should retake a 770

I mean, if you’re already done with the SAT and you’re looking Ivy there’s no harm…but there’s no NEED to take it, a 770 is fine

FFFFFFFFFffffff
I can’t believe I got a 790!! It was probably just a stupid mistake. Only 10 points away from an 800. It’s like the score is mocking me… so infuriating.

lolwut i got a 690 and i’m sitting here in tears of happiness i didn’t even get to finish the test in time and left a good 10 questions blank lulz

you guys should be happy with your scores -__-

lol WOW stoooooooop

hailfire27, I would hate that situation of being only 10 points away from an 800. If I were in that situation, I’d probably be slamming my head against my steel table right now.

I hate people like you. There are people who get 650s and are happy, and you are so snobbish that you think a 770 will be a detriment to your application.
That’s not what will keep you out of Harvard, your presumptuousness and horrible attitude will.

I have a horrible attitude because I strongly desire perfection?

no you have a horrible attitude because you demand perfection and aren’t even mildly content with the next best thing. i’m perfectly happy with my 780

You have a horrible attitude because you think it’s about the desire for perfection.

I wonder if you realize they don’t just look at SAT scores? If you get rejected, its because your essays suck or you don’t do enough extracurriculars.

OP, get off CC and make some friends. Besides, in the real world, its not about test scores, it’s about how you can influence people through your personality.

LOL.

Bro, same thing happened to me last year and I still can’t get over it. Common sense and teachers tell me not to re-take it but it’s a pretty hard thing to do…

I probably won’t though - despite my friends’ mocking scores of 800’s and that one question hanging over my head like some sentence to death row.

UGGHH. I feel your pain - esp since I’m a MAO avid.

EDIT: I was referencing hailfire27

haha, of course an 800 would look better than 770 on your application, but i can’t imagine that they would reject you for that. admission officers not only look at your math 2c score but also the level of your high school math classes and the grades you got on them. also ap scores can help!

to say “i’m a failure!” is ridiculous. haha, but i don’t blame you. i’m asian too, and i know how much pressure is on us to get that perfect score.
