oh my god im f**ked

so today i talked to a transfer representative from uc davis. she told me with my gpa, a 3.93, i was a shoe in, provided i was only missing 1-2 prereqs. turns out i am missing 4. uc berkeley and ucla do NOT require these courses. unless i misinterpreted this. i go to american river college and my intended major is mechanical engineering. could someone read up on assist.org about the engineering sciences(statics, properties of materials, etc) whether they are necessary. basically i am going to be rejected from my safety school. oh my god. i dont even know if i can get into usc for a semi-safety. i am seriously freaking out here.

Did you apply to Cal and UCLA? Because you don’t need a safety school…

All the UCs (besides Cal and LA) aren’t too strict about prereqs, I think. I had 0 completed for UCI but I still got in.

[ASSIST Report: ARC 08-09 UCD Articulation Agreement by Major](<a href=“Welcome to ASSIST”>Welcome to ASSIST).

You should contact UC Davis.

I haven’t taken public speaking or Chem, which is a prereq for my major at Davis (also my backup). I guess they need to make sure CSE majors aren’t social misfits.

If your GPA is a cut above other applicants, you should still have a good chance. They have an admission rate of ~60% (I believe).

EDIT: It’s 44% for engineering majors. And I’m sure the admitted GPA is lower than yours. So long as prereqs don’t have a huge weight on your application score, I see you getting in.

I applied to both cal & ucla. they are obviously my preference but i was hoping on davis as a safety school. im not sure what my chances at usc are. across the board its looking pretty grim for me. i am thinking of just taking one or two of those courses over the summer at ucla.
