Good morning!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would love to help, if I really don't know, I don't want to comment. I am not familiar with a lot of these. My own kids are looking at less competitive schools.

I can't imagine your not getting into Tulane! Your stats are very impressive.

I just commented on your other thread concerning your chances at Oberlin. Since you didn't mention the double major there, I will add a bit more here. If you are serious about doing the double major, Oberlin is a good choice. There is also a program that lets you do a double major combining classes at Harvard and New England Conservatory. I'm not familiar with the UC schools, but I don't think any of the others are quite in the same league as Oberlin and NEC as far as music goes.

I think you would have no problem getting admitted to Oberlin College. The Conservatory may well be harder, depending on what program you are shooting for and how advanced you are in that area. It is relatively easy to transfer into double major status from the conservatory side. You just need to take two electives in the college (which you would be doing anyway) and get recommendations from the teachers of those classes. Getting double major status from the college is much more difficult because you have to audition with everyone else for a spot in the conservatory. Of course, you could also apply to both conservatory and college simultaneously and possibly become a double major from day 1.

I have heard reports that the voice department at the Conservatory makes life difficult for those trying to double major. I know that some of the instrumental departments are very willing to work with students who need to rearrange their schedules so they can meet requirements in both divisions.

My daughter is currently studying double bass in her first year at the Conservatory. If you have specific questions about one of the departments there, I could pass them along to her. She wants to declare a double major in either math or physics, possibly as soon as next semester.

I understand they have a pretty good psych department and one of the best neuroscience departments in the country if you want to combine the psych and biology interests.

You may also want to consider Rice. They have a great academic program and a top-notch conservatory. I do not know how easy it is to double major there.
