College of William & Mary Cornell University, Duke UniversityUniversity of Chicago, University of Virginia in if you apply early everywhere else rejected or waitlisted or a slim chance

Class rank? Ethnicity? State?

My school doesn’t do class rank, so I legitimately have no idea. I go to Thomas Jefferson High School for Sci and Tech in Virginia. And…I’m Asian. siiiigh

If you go to TJ or its equivalent your chances are very much so going to be defined by the amount of competition coming out of your school; since you’re applying to HYP, it’s safe to assume that there will be an extreme amount of competition. The proverbial question you need to ask yourself would be how well you stack up to the other kids in your grade.

That aside, William and Mary and UVA will be your safeties. Hopkins (non-BME) looks to be a reasonable match / high match. Chicago, Duke and Cornell are your low reaches / reaches, and everything else is a big reach.

Haha, yeah, that’s kinda what I thought. Darn those legitimately smart kids in my grade. :D

^^^ Isn’t Thomas Jefferson the top ranked HS in the country?

^Top public school

Yup. Unfortunately (or fortunately?), it means there are a lot of amazing kids there, so college admissions get really competitive. Oh well… I suppose, worse comes to worse, I go to UVA and graduate in 2-3 years. Does it help if I say all of my classes (except PE and band) since freshman year are honors?

sight you make feel like an idiot

^ Aw, I’m sure you’re not. Besides, looking at some of the other people here on CC…I feel kind of like an idiot too. >.<

Oh, I totally forgot to include this! <—Super forgetful >.< I’m applying early action to U of Chicago so would that help me significantly?
