Oh no! Can I still get in?!? (Ivy)

My dream college is Cornell!! I'm very worried. I didn't apply early decision because of this.... I got 4 B's in freshman year and only 1 A!! I took all honors classes... But there is no excuse other than I was not organized. However, my GPA for sophomore year was 3.9 and a 4.0 for junior and senior year!! I got a 2260 on my SAT's and a 32 on my ACT's. I have a strong extra curricular list, but I AM SO NERVOUS. CAN I STILL GET IN?!?!? -Sincerely, a nerve wrecked stressed out senior

Short answer: Yes, you still can. Long answer: Your test scores are within the “qualified candidate” range and strong ECs will help. You’re improvement will be noticed as well. A lower GPA and/or class ranking can lower chances, but good essays, recommendations, and a rigorous course load can all improve chances. Just keep in mind Cornell does still have a relatively low acceptance rate, even if you are a strong candidate. But best of luck, you are far from out of the running.

Which Cornell college are you applying to? Your scores are still good and they will note your improvement. You do still have the opportunity to apply ED; the deadline isn’t until November. If Cornell is 100% your top choice, then I would suggest applying early! I don’t know why your low grades freshman year would deter you from applying early and instead cause you to apply regular.

Okay yay!! And alright, maybe I will apply for ED… As long as Im not out of the running, ED actually would be a good idea. It is 100% my top choice and I understand the chances are slim, but I REALLY want this!! Thanks so much for the encouragement:)
