Listen. I didn't know that orientation would fill up so fast. I can only make it to the orientation dates In June and a couple of early ones in July because of traveling outside the country. I thought if I signed up now, there would still be spots available. But, I just checked and the first date available is JULY 13th. The FIRST session I CAN'T make. If it'd be ONE earlier, I could have made it. I CAN'T delay this vacation (it's outside of the country to visit relatives I haven't seen in almost five years and it's really important to my family). So, that means... I have to sign up for that STUPID last day of orientation from August 30th to September 1st which means I probably won't get ANY of the classes I want? Am I right? My questions is... how bad is scheduling for classes on the absolute last day? I know. I'm stupid. I'm really really really stupid and I shouldn't have put off signing up for orientation. I honestly thought the dates would be available. What a great way to start off my college career...I hate this.

I’m not sure how big the incoming class is, but I don’t think it’s a big deal. I also went on the last orientation day 4 years ago, and I got all the classes I wanted except Great Books (that was full).

I don’t know about you, but I just registered for a mid-june session just 2 minutes ago…

it could depend whether op is lsa or coe

Well I’m in LSA, and I would assume LSA spots fill up faster?

In CoE atleast for freshmen classes they start off with just a few open seats and then open more as time goes on.

It won’t be that bad. If nothing else, as a freshman you typically have a fairly wide array of requirements left to fill, so if one class is fulfill you can always fuflil another requirement.

As a transfer, I had to register for upper division classes in July-- when the continuing upperclassmen had registered MONTHS ago. I had no problem finding classes to take, so I feel like you should be okay as a freshman. All the freshmen are registering sometime that summer, and there are LOTS of classes for freshmen to take.

The students from the UAE always have their orientation in late August and they all get into most of the classes they want to. They may not get the exact section they want, some even must take a class the second semester rather than the first, but by and large, even international students that have their orientation in late August have little trouble getting a schedule that they like.
