Oh no! I forgot my friend's birthday!

I've always been really bad at remembering birthdays -- I know when they are, but when they come around, I never realize it. I just discovered today that I had completely forgotten one of my really good friend's birthdays. It was five days ago, when I happened to be out of town on vacation and not able to access my only hope for birthday-remembering: Face book. To make matters worse, I talked to her this morning on the phone and didn't even mention it then! She didn't seem mad, but I bet she was probably hurt. AND she's leaving for college in less than two weeks (I'll be a senior in high school). What can I possibly do to make it up to her?

give her a late birthday gift and an apology (hug optional)

What a coincidence, it’s my friend’s birthday today.
I think teenager’s suggestion is nice.

Haha, a serendipitous reminder for you, hanana.
Thanks for the suggestions. I think I’m going to make her an inside-joke teapot, like on The Office. I made one for another friend once, and she loved it. Really personal and fun, but inexpensive. And I’ll use that optional hug.

Does it really matter? Do girls actually get upset over such petty and trivial things?

^yes, it’s very typical.

Just give her a special gift she wanted or just say sorry.

Wow I don’t think she will care lol. I wouldn’t

TOUGH SHIIT.

You could just wish her a happy belated birthday and give her a gift if you’re so inclined; you could take her out, too. It’s not that big of a deal.

The worst your friend could do is kill you. Or she could suspend you over a vat of boiling oil, stick bamboo shoots under your fingernails, cut off your arm and cauterize it sans anesthesia, brand you with some slur, gouge out your eyes, then lower you very slowly in to the oil to maximize your pain and terror.

Get her an ice cream cone.

Haha, I definitely didn’t mean to make such a big deal. Like I said, she wasn’t mad, I just wanted to do something special since she’s leaving soon. It’s all good, but thanks for your suggestions. :)
