Oh no, loans being called up!

I transferred schools in the middle of the school year. After I left my old school I received letters from my student loan holders stating that the school had notified them I was no longer enrolled and I would have to start paying in 6 months. I called one of the loan companies and they told me not to worry about it, that as soon as classes started at my new school they would notify my lenders that I was full-time again.

Well, it is six months later, I'm still a full time student, but I am getting bills for my loans. Do I need to call all my lenders or should I just call the financial aid office? If it takes a while for them to clear it up will it effect my credit if I don't pay? I can't afford to pay right now.

You are entitled to have your loans deferred while you are a student, so don’t worry. I would call the FA office and the lenders to remind them that you are still in school and receiving the bills.

Call the lenders on Monday. They will tell you what you need to do. I would guess that they will want some sort of enrollment documentation from your school.

Take your paperwork to the finaid office at your new school and they can complete online/fax in a form that documents that you are at least a half-time student.
