Oh no major problem i think

okay i am getting really worried.

i am a national merit finalist who designated osu as my first choice college on my national merit application. but i still havent gotten any official offer from osu about any natl merit scholarships. has anyone else? do i need to re-choose osu as my first choice–when i was a semifinalist and was filling out my app to be a finalist i put down osu as first and assumed that would be good enough…

also, on a slightly unrelated note, i tried to check my financial aid, but it said my fafsa hadnt been received. i know i sent it though becuase other schools have given me financial aid awards already and stuff.

whats going onnnn?

If it makes you feel better, go ahead and call OSU and talk to the person who is in charge of the merit scholarships. Last year, I called the NM organization in late Feb. to make sure that first choice was listed correctly, and then I called OSU on March 7 to make sure that they had received the information listeing them as first choice by March 1. They were extremely nice and helpful and informed me that everyrhing had been recived. I just looked up the letter announcing the Distinguished award from last year, and it was dated April 5, so I probably received it a few days after that.

I've had the same problems. My FAFSA only showed up last week. Did you have to go through verification?

I haven't heard anything about National Merit either. I don't know what the timeline is there.

i called them today; counselor told me they received my fafsa but there were delays because they are still considering me for a merit scholarship (im hoping its natl merit). the person in charge of merit scholarships wasnt available today, but i think im going to wait a little because no one i know has received the scholarship info.

thanks for the help and reassurance!

Who'd you talk to/what number?

I'm curious, since I recently got a call from their student asking if I was still interested in OSU. I said I was, but he also asked where else I got accepted, and I told him MIT. He was like, "Well, that pretty much decides that."

In fact, I'm thinking Ohio State looks more and more likely for me (I like the Buckeye vibe plus it's closer to home plus right now MIT FinAid isn't looking too hot) and I definitely want them to know I'm still interested!

i called the office of financial aid: 800-678-6440

congrats on mit though!
