Guys, I'm so screwed right now. I'm beyond panic.

I may sound calm but I'm not.

I missed the school deadline for AP registration (3/4/11), and forgot to turn in my check and everything.. I came home and went to badminton practice, only to realize that the school office had closed @ 4 o' clock, leaving me unable to register for the AP exams.

Is there any way I can still register for the AP exams..?
I checked out the Collegeboard website, and all it mentions is local AP coordinators for people with homeschooling, disabilities, and other legit excuses..

I already sent an email to apexams@info.collegeboard.org, but I still can't stop worrying.. What do I do? Should I speak to the school officials (principal, AP counselor) on Monday? Or do you guys think that is too late?

Does your school not allow to pay for the AP tests with late fee?

If not, then You need to talk to your principal or AP counselor or both as soon as possible. Make sure you state your situation in a calm and collected manner.

Relax, I don’t think it’s a big deal. The due date at my school was also today, but I remember last year they still let you pay for the exams late. Just go to your office first thing Monday morning to sort things out. Don’t stress, it’s all good.

^If that doesn’t work, I’d recommend looking at the registration dates at some of the other schools in your area. Some of them might still be accepting payments/exam requests. Most schools don’t seem to mind if students opt to take the exams at an alternative location, so that might be a suitable option for you.

Alright so I visited my school counselors and principals today. They said they cannot offer me testing, and that I would have to go to other schools.

I visited 5 schools (yes, 5) from 1PM to 4PM, and got rejected by all schools. I either had to be a resident in their district, or a student at their school. Otherwise, they had no more space and such…

Am I seriously going to get jipped by all the schools around me? No space for a single student…? I’m sure SOMEBODY like me has gone through this before…

I’m panicking SO HARD right now… I have to go to USC this Thurs/Friday so I HAVE to sort this out by Wednesday… should I keep visiting more schools in hopes of some space in SOME school out there? I still have 4-5 more schools to visit tomorrow… although they are more than an hour away from my home…

I would suggest contacting collegeboard at this point to see what can be done. I’m sorry things aren’t working out for you buddy. I’m sure if you contact collegeboard you can figure something out. You might have to pay more, but hopefully that isn’t a concern for you at this point.

I emailed them last Saturday and got this response:

"When calling AP Coordinators to arrange testing, be sure to tell them:

You are trying to locate a school willing to administer exams to home-schooled students or students from schools that do not offer AP Exams.

The exams you plan to take."

Does that mean I should keep visiting more schools, or should I call CollegeBoard through the number they gave me to look for an AP coordinator?

I don’t think I’m eligible for these things… because I’m neither home-schooled nor am I attending a school that doesn’t offer AP testing…

One of the school’s AP counselors just flat out reproached me for missing my school deadline and rejected me… I understand that I waited for too long, but my car broke down last Friday in the middle of the road and I had to wait to get it fixed up, and the office was closed by then.

So… do I keep visiting schools to see for open space, or should I call CollegeBoard, even while knowing that I’m not homeschooled nor from a school that doesn’t offer AP testing?

hmmm… I’ve actually never faced this problem, so I don’t really know how to respond to the email. I still think you should give collegeboard a call. They can’t not give you a test, that would be ridiculous.

And to the counselor who reproached you, don’t worry about it. They don’t know the full story, so whatever. They probably didn’t take any AP exams themselves anyway.

I wonder if the reason other schools are reluctant is because your scores will be reported under their school and they are worried that you will not do well? I just can’t understand why they won’t work with you…actually, why your OWN school can’t help you! If I were you, I would contact my school board representative. He/ She represents ALL of the high schools in your district and he/she can pull some real weight. It can’t hurt and it should work. Let us know how this resolves. Good luck from a mom in VA!

Keep trying! At my school the deadline was also 3/4, but both of my AP teachers were still collecting money today (3/7). Hopefully you’ll find a school that’s willing to take you.
