So, one place I've really been interested in is NYU.
Today I decided to take a look at their admission requirements, and what I found caused me to have a mini heart-attack.

According to Family Connection:
NYU requires 4 years of "History/Social Sciences."

According to CollegeBoard:
NYU requires 4 years of "History."

This caught me by surprise, because no other university I've viewed has had such an emphasis on that subject area!

Here's the low-down on what "history-type things" I've taken so far:
Freshman year: No history courses were offered at my school.
1 Year of World History (Sophomore year)
1 Year of AP US History (Junior year)
1 Semester of AP US Government & Politics (Senior year)
1 Semester of AP Macroeconomics (Senior year)
1 Year of AP Psychology (Senior year)

Fortunately, many websites - UC Doorways in particular - indicate that AP Psychology is a "Social Science" course. Unfortunately, I'm not sure whether NYU will accept that as a "History" course (unless Family Connection is right that it takes social sciences in lieu of History). Additionally, I'm not sure if NYU considers it to be 4 years of history if I took 2 of those years in the same year...if you know what I mean.

Do I meet NYU's admission requirements, based on what courses I've taken / am taking?

You have taken a good amount of history and social sciences, it's not like they're gonna reject you when you've already taken so many related courses.

Psychology isn't really a "history" but a social science. At my school, four years of pure history aren't even offered- the most one can get is two years of history with another two years of social studies (e.g. government, econ, sociology, etc.)

But yes, I would think that psychology would partially fulfill the NYU requirement for history/social studies. But you might want to ask the admissions office for their opinion.

crap. instead of taking physics this year, like most seniors at my school do, i dropped science in favor of AP psych (also doing AP Euro as my history). i wonder how screwed this makes me for admissions
