Oh No.

so. i'm indian. i've been living in michigan for 9 yrs. we haven't quite received our green card/permanent resident status yet...we're expecting it in the next couple months. and so umich classifies me as a "non-resident".
i'm so disappointed. and mad. its unfair if THAT affects my chances of getting in.
i have amazing stats. valedictorian. 4.3. good act/sat. hardcore schedule. etc etc.
i have the potential to go to an ivy league school. but if umich doesn't accept me just because i'm a "non-resident" .....i will be SO mad and disappointed !

so who thinks they put a big weight on that? ( ..will they reject me just because of that? )

ur still probably giong to get in unless ur ACT/SAT score is dismal...which I doubt

Didn't you know? Michigan never accepts OOS valedictorians! Sorry about your chances . . .

Seriously, do you actually think being OOS will affect your chances that much? You seem to be very confident in your stats.

You will most likely still get in, but you probably will not get scholarship money.

Umich is selective for OOS, but you won't have a problem.

"Didn't you know? Michigan never accepts OOS valedictorians! Sorry about your chances . . ." -- jk, right? loL

um yeah. anyways.....thanks. that helped. i hope i get in. if i don't i have no idea what i would do. i'd rather not go out of state for undergrad, and if i don't get into umich i'd have to go to MSU..which is like i could have done nothing all of HS and still gotten in there.

I have a residency issue as well. I moved to Michigan less than three years ago and one parent is not a Michigan resident (not divorced or seperated). It gets worse, but I won't go into the details.

Unfortunately, my grades aren't nearly as good as yours, so I'm really worried.

you're a freakin valedictorian.
you'll get in. relax.

worry about money matters more than getting in. sheesh.
