i'm a junior. i was absent from my school the entire last week and half the week before due to a serious case of mono.
during that time, it seems that nhs applications were turned in. I missed it. i tried to negotiate with the sponser of nhs... but no luck. the next chance for me is the senior yr. i know for sure i can get in the senior yr since the minimum requirement for acceptance is 3.7 uw with 2 leadership positions- both of which i exceedingly meet and will meet.
do u think not being in nhs for 2yrs will hurt my chances when i apply to nyu?

no- bc u can easily explain what happened

don't you hate that *****. Couldn't your guidance counselor or someone either tell you about the deadline, or submit your application, I would think your school would notice that your were qualified, and encourage you to apply. duh, its so simple, why are schools so screwed up?

Can you contact NHS yourself to determine if there is way to include your application......how would your school have the final say so??? Is your school chapter part of a national organization? Who monitors this? Were you responsible for submitting the app to the school or just how does that work?

If you don't get in, don't worry about it. NHS is just a club for people who want to be recognized. It is not a disadvantage to join, but you won't be missing out on anything great.
