Oh, that liberal media!

There is both liberal and conservative media, especially in network cable.

Well, the BBC is british, and the British are much more liberal than the US, generally.

Liberal in the American sense, for the record.

Technically, most network tv/ newspapers etc (nytimes, bbc, cnn and so on) are mostly identified as center-right. Think about it. It's not as though they're calling for a socialist revolution (that would be left). However, I think all network television is pretty b.s. and all about the fancy graphics and catch phrases.

Well..."right, left, and center" are very fluid terms. As are "liberal" and "conservative." In most places in the world, "liberal" parties are usually closer to the Republican party in ideology (e.g. libertarian.)

The NYT isn't liberal? The other week they ran a "keys to success" for the democrats in a full page color chart. The Republicans "keys to success?" Oh, that they state you can find online only..........

I know Fox News is a conservatively slanted media source. It's just the fact that people claim the NYT is what the "smart" people read makes me laugh. You're smart because you're liberal?

There is no major TV network that is as liberal as FOX news is conservative.

Nearly all of FOX's main analysts/hosts are far right and clearly supporters of Bush, but there are very few strong liberal hosts on any of the cable or regular networks. Most TV news coverage is relatively neutral and not very in depth or thoughtful.

The New York Times and some other major newspapers tend to lean left and presentation is much more accurate than what you get on FOX or some of the conservative newspapers.

yea, just like Dan Rather on CBS, that was surely neutral and accurate huh?

"There is no major TV network that is as liberal as FOX news is conservative. "

I agree^^

sportsman8433,

You're confounding variables here. The NYT ran success for the Dems because it's INTERESTING. It sells papers.

Why?

Republicans winning isn't interesting! It's not news! They've been doing that for about a decade! Now if the Democrats win, it's news! The papers tend to be much more pro-underdog than pro-Dems. There are several interesting studies, (I think Zaller at UCLA did one?) that shows that the papers are less harsh toward the opposition party. But once the tables turn, it's full-auto.

Watch how quickly the papers look for something to blast the Dems on the second a Dem gets into office or they take the Congress. Which may be a while...

This is going to be the rallying cry for the victim-complex FOXNewsists for a long time, but it's not necessarily all that important. Outliers /= a trend, per se.
