OHHH NOOOO!!!! HelP ME AS IF I'M DROWNING!!!!

NEED OF HELP!!
I’m a Korean planning on applying to Duke, Georgetown, Cornell, NYU, Johns HOpkins, emory, and georgia tech…

My stats are pretty “decent”… uhhh… kehh… u decide…

overall Unweighted gpa: 3.77 //// weighted: 4.23 (from 9th-11th grade)
ranked: 43/497 'with highest weighted gpa being 4.39.

SAT: 750math/ 680 critical reading/ 800grammer ----
sat 2: 710 biology, 560 world history (blehhh…) , and 800 Japanese (not native speaker)
… plan on taking math IIc and korean

APs: biology, us history, calculus bc, mircro economics= 5
world history= 4

Loads of ECs-- some being placed 2nd nationally in orchestra national festival, state champion lacrosse, 2nd in state science fair…

… ok so far…???
this is where i go tumbling down.

9th grade–2 days of ISS for getting in a “fight”. I was merely doing self defense when this guy @#$#^%#$%@#$… let’s not get into details…
total of 17 detentions and 2 ISS.

10th grade- had a seriously difficult precalculus teacher known for being the “vandy killer” yep… she’s a vanderbilt grad… only 3 individuals out of 27 students in class got above a 85… as a matter of fact, i got a 70(69.72) in this teacher’s class… barely passing the class with a D (maybe a C in other counties).
moreover… my grades dropped hysterically with overall gpa 3.66uw 1st semester and 3.2uw 2nd semester.

11th grade- i was good with straight As. although i waivered myself into AP calc BC , I maintained 94.2 average with ap exam of a 5.
HAHA for Dr. ***** my precalc teacher…

WOULD THE COLLEGES I LISTED UNDERSTAND THE TREND THAT i HAD GONE THROUGH AND ACCEPT ME? (apologies for being so direct…)
need a reply fast… school starts in less than 2 weeks and I’ve got to start preparing…

also, my school's ranked atleast 4th this past six years in my state.

take a chill pill

what school do you go to?

Glad someone said it. To answer your question(s), you seem to have a whole slew of problems. I don't even know where to begin. ISSs will not be looked favorably upon. Detentions aren't a big deal but suspensions will hurt your application. As for your "Vandy" dilemma, just because your teacher is a difficult grader will not compensate for the D. Sorry but that's also going to be looked down upon. Your overall GPA is decent for all the aforementioned schools, though, but the erratic trend is not. The class rank is ok; you're in the top 10 percent of your class.

I think schools like Duke and Georgetown are high reaches. NYU is easier for admission. You have a decent shot at Cornell and Emory but not too high. Realize though, you're going to need a fabulous essay/rec.

This is not too diminish your hope. You sound like you actually need a lot of that right now actually. I'm just trying to sound practical. There are many good schools in America that offer just as good an education as these schools but are less selective. Try to find some reasonable matches and stop stressing. This is not the end of your life.

If you're interested in Cornell engineering, I think that's a reach, not a match. The engineering school is harder to get into. (I'm guessing engineering, because you also list GA Tech.) I don't think you have any real safeties on your list.

800grammer OH NOESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

Thank you so much. I really needed honest opinions. Would Gtech be a match for me? What would it be for JHU? I'm not sure if i'll be able to get good recs but i can definately write an awesome essay (800 grammer afterall... heh...) Moreover, would the colleges consider the trends in my grades?
9th- high
10th- low
11th - high
12th- i'll work my butt off.

a high- high- high- grade trend would have looked better then yours but neverhtless, it's not gonna kill you. your gpa is good so yeah..

but why are taking korean sat 2 when you are korean? I have heard several times that that is looked down upon.

^ yeah...getting an 800 on SAT II korean doesnt prove your fluency.. at all. plus if you got less than an 800 you'd look like a huge idiot. dont take it

what do you mean by the "high-high-high" grade trend? Would the fact that I actually got a 5 on AP Calc BC exam, along with the factor that I had a 94 average in BC compensate somewhat for the D in precalc the year before?

oooh icic... lol...
