Ohio Board of Regents Scholarship

In case you haven't heard....this scholarship (aka Ohio Academic Scholarship) is not going to be available 2009.......? Check out the website for the full article. Sign of the times....

Really???
I had no idea... wow...that's really bad...

Can you post a link so everyone can confirm?
Because my HS guidance office is in the process of selecting students to be nominated for this scholarship...

Sorry, Tetra.....I'm a parent without good computer skills :( If you Google...Ohio Board of Regents... and once on their website search for Ohio Academic Scholarship it is all there.

Have any current recipients of the Ohio Academic Scholarship heard whether they are continuing to fund this for next year?

My son (who just graduated from college) had this award for the past four years. From what I can tell by the web site, there is no funding for this going forward even for current scholarship holders.

From what I understand, the state is moving completely to need based scholarships so if there is need this scholarship could be converted to a need based OH offered scholarship.

I feel especially sorry for any current recipients if they do not continue to fund this. My daughter is the recipient of a State Regents scholarship in our State (Oklahoma) and we would be devastated if they stopped funding it part way through her college career. (after seeing this thread I rushed off to their web site to check).

I wasn’t sure that the web site said that they were no longer funding this… I was hoping that it didn’t since my s just finished his freshman year. I think it is a shame if they do away with this-- it was at least one way to try to encourage top students to stay in state.

Yeah, I was selected for the scholarship last year (I’m about to finish up my freshman year) and I got an email saying it was being discontinued. :frowning: Fortunately, I already had a full scholarship to college regardless of other aid, but I have a friend who was really depending on it (he was selected for it the year ahead of me at my HS).
