What are the best universities/colleges in Ohio?

There are many different types of different schools in Ohio. The best school for one person might not be the best fit for another. I suggest you get your hands on a college guide book or two (I like Fiske and Princeton Review but there are many others) look at the sections on Ohio schools and start reading. Also I suggest you visit a few different types of schools (large/mid-size/LAC, rural/suburban/urban, public/private, non-sectarian/religious) and see where you feel most comfortable. Take finances into account as well and look for schools your family can afford.

Depends on what you are looking for: Insider’s Guide to the Colleges list by state:

1) LACs - Wooster, Oberlin, Kenyon, Denison, Antioch, Wittenberg, Ohio Wesleyan

2) Research Unis - Ohio State, Case Western Reserve, Cincinnati

and some interesting public “in-betweens” like Ohio Univ, Miami Univ of Ohio, Kent State

3) and many regional and community colleges, like Bowling Green

Overall, Ohio has many excellent public and private choices for higher education. Many residents decide to stay in-state due to big tuition benefits for this reason.
