OHIO or PITT?

Hey everyone, i really really need help on making a decision! I got accepted to both Pitt and OSU for engineering; however, due to the different scholarships i received, i am having much trouble deciding on where i want to go. At OSU, i received the excellence(full in-state tuition), but i am an out of stater so the first year, i would have to pay to difference. I have been leaning towards Ohio state due to their really highly ranked engineering program. At Pitt, i received full tuition(out of state) and a 2000 dollar annual award from the college of engineering. Now, i am stuck. I do not know where i want to go. Pitt seems good and from the financial stand point, it is great. On the other hand, Ohio’s engineering program is a lot better. Help please.

Have you done campus visits yet?

If you have what did you think?

Well just based on US News engineering rankings from 2010 (I know they’re not the best but it gives you an estimate) Ohio state was ranked 26th and Pitt was ranked 51st. But money also matters; how much of a difference will the overall cost be? Can you/your family afford to pay the extra cost without problems? But the main thing is to visit the campus and see which school and city you think you will enjoy being at more for 4+ years of college.

Well i visited Ohio state, and i really really liked the campus and the feel. I haven’t visited Pitt yet, but i am planning on doing so. In the end, i feel as if if i choose pitt, i will end up regretting not going to OSU, but on the other hand, i feel as if if i go to osu, i won’t regret going to pitt. My parents plan on helping me out some, but i will be taking out a loan. Also, the gpa requirements to keep the scholarship also plays a roll. OSU requrires a 2.5 gpa (althgouh i plan on doing a lot better) and Pitt requires a 3.0. I feel with the 2.5 i will be more inclined to study to actually learn and enjoy the material, rather than just learning for the grades. I think i am going to OSU.

^^ Wise Decision!!

Not many people would pick Pittsburgh over the booming Columbus imho. My cousin is at CMU in Pittsburgh and he absolutely loves Columbus!! Go Bucks!! :)

My d had a similar decision last year with pharmacy major. We visited PITT 3 times and she loved it, but the OOS costs were so much more than OSU instate. She went with OSU and loves it there. A visit would help.
