<p>A lot of people in Ohio have been concerned that, with increasing selectivity, Ohio State would become significantly less diverse from a socio-economic perspective. A recent report on the 2007 freshman class shows that–despite the high admissions numbers posted earlier–nearly a quarter of the freshman class are first generation college students.</p>

<p>In other words, the university is pulling in some very impressive freshman classes while avoiding becoming a monolithic college full of white, suburban preppies.</p>
