Anyone apply to this? Know when we get notified?

Yeah, they tell you if you get a interview or not by email in next week or 2.
They get your recommendations letters after they sent out interviews, so I guess those aren't considered when choosing who to interview.

I heard that if you're chosen to interview, the likelihood of getting it is around 50/50. This is by word of mouth though, so I'm not sure how credible it is. I heard it from someone who was accepted to EAP (but ultimately, she turned the offer down).

To Those Who Got Accepted,

Thanks,

Hey guys, I just heard back from them today, and I got in. Thought I'd help out by posting my stats:

State of residency: Ohio
SAT1: 2290 (750 CR 740 M 800 W)
ACT: 34 composite (I can't remember the specific scores, but 34 in math and reading, 36 in science, and I think around 33 for the other ones)
SAT2: 800 Math IIC, 780 US Hist, 720 Bio
AP: European History 5, US History 5, Eng Lang 5, Bio 5, Physics B 5, Span Lang 3, and this year I'm taking Econ (macro and micro), Eng Lit, Chem, Envi Sci, Calc BC
HS Rank: School doesn't rank, but I'm saludatorian (spelling?)
Essay, Recommendation letters, Interview:
Essay was pretty good I think, I talked about some volunteer work I did in India and some other stuff with an internship I did
Waived my right to look at the Recs, but I think they were pretty good, I'm sure they wrote some nice things
Interview with the first doctor wasn't fabulous, she seemed really reserved and I didn't feel like I gave a good impression, but I thought I did well in the group interview
ECs
4 year Varsity letterman in tennis, 2-time state champ, 1-time state finalist (going for a 3rd state title this year)
President of Sci. Olympiad
VP of JSA

List of BA/BS-MD program that you applied

Case Western--denied, no interview
OSU EAP--got in (obviously)
UC Dual Admission--got in
U of Pitt--got an interview, haven't heard back yet, I'm not sure of my chances yet

Just stayed clam and honest during the interview, nothing special

Actually, in return, I'd like some advice: Should I go to Duke on a pre-med track or go to the OSU EAP?

I also heard back from OSU EAP, but I didn't get in. Here are my stats:

State of Residency: Ohio
SAT1: 2280 (M 800, R 760, W 720)
ACT: 35 (M 36, R 34, S 36, E 34)
No SAT IIs (I regret not taking them and would recommend anyone applying to these programs in the future take some)
AP: Calc AB/BC-5/5; US Hist-5, Chem-4, US Gov/Pol-5, Microecon and Eng Lit in May
HS Rank: 2/~342
Essay, Recs, and Interview:
Essay was pretty decent, don't know about recs but probably good. I personally don't think the interview went that well either. Probably didn't stand out much at either group or individual, but I didn't fail miserably either.
ECs:
No sports.
Varsity Academic Team
President of Science Club
Varsity Envirothon Team
NHS, Peer Tutor. Mostly just easy stuff.
Volunteered at Hospital senior year and shadowed Doc.

List of BA/MD programs applied:
Rochester REMS: Rejected no interview
Case PPSP: Interviewed yesterday.
OSU EAP: Interviewed, rejected.
Pitt Guarantee: Interviewed, haven't heard back.

For anyone who intends to apply to these things, I think clinical/research experience is a must. SATs and GPA and that other stuff will probably get you an interview, but I think you need to have something to show that you really know what you're getting yourself into. Of course, if you're a stellar interviewee who can make anything seem meaningful, this might not apply.
That's just my opinion though, and I honestly have no idea what influences the final decision.

As for your decision, oddball9t5, I suppose it depends on what your situation is. OSU has a decent med school, which seems to be gaining prestige, and it is also cheap for an in-stater. However, there are definitely better med schools out there, and judging from your previous performance, I'm sure you'll do fine in college and on the MCATs and probably get into some of them. The two things that attracted me to the OSU EAP program was the lower cost of OSU for instaters and just the feeling of certainty that would come with knowing where I would be going for the next eight years. If I remember correctly, you have another option of going to OSU and taking the mcats to apply out while keeping a good backup med school, don't know for sure. I'd probably go to Duke if money wasn't an issue, but that's just me. Well, hope all that rambling helped, and good luck.

Thanks drymz1, appreciate your advice. By any chance did I see you at my interview day for either Pitt or for the EAP? I remember my Pitt one was on the 10th of March and my OSU EAP was on the 2nd of April. Good luck with everything else, though, you seem to be a stellar candidate so I'm sure all will work out.

Nope, it looks like we were off a couple days. I was March 4th for Pitt and March 31 for EAP. Good luck to you as well, and thanks. I'll probably be going to Pitt myself, so if you end up there, perhaps we'll meet face to face.

Hey guys i also interviewed march 31 at EAP
I got in
ACT: 34
SAT: 2240

Summer research internship at Rush Univ. in Chicago

other programs:
rejected w/o interview: Northwestern HPME, Case PPSP
rejected w interview: Brown PLME
waiting on w interview: Pittsburgh guaranteed admit
In: Neoucom, Villanova/Drexel, EAP

oddball:
personally i'd take the EAP...OSU's med school is pretty good and there are loads of opportunities for research and that sort of thing, and it is indeed cheap for an instate national merit scholar. Also, as someone said up top you can always apply out if you want. I personally do not want to take another standardized test for a while.
on a personal note: i play tennis and follow pretty closely and was wondering your name, and if not your name atleast what highschool u played for (though if my intiution is correct u played behind Shankar at St. X last year)
